Dude! Today was so incredibly busy. But it's totally flown by so yay ;-)

For the record? The 100 icons thing is even better than I thought it would be *hugs them* I finally have DZ icons! And I even have a Stephen King one! I mean, one could argue that having The Dead Zone featured in my userpics means I already had, but it's different. So I now have a book-quote icon and this is awesome! Anyway, I'm having fun... funfunfun!

In all the excitement - yes, I am still talking about the 100 icons, thanks - I still managed to do Other Cool Stuff yesterday, meaning that I a) re-re-re-re-watched "Manhunt" and b) finally got to see "I, ET" - will wonder ever cease ;-)

Re "Manhunt", I have some observations to make - because apparently I can't talk about Numb3rs just in passing, I need to get into it a little more.

  • When Charlie and Don appear on screen for the first time? David apologises for calling them - or calling, Don - on their day off, and they're both wearing those sweats, right? Though I'm not sure if these pants are called sweats-sweats, but you know what I'm talking about, hopefully. Anyway - I love the idea of them both not only spending time together on their day off, but doing something together as, I don't know, running or something. That's just too cute for words.

  • I still have a problem with the idea that a "year" supposedly passed between the pilot and "Manhunt" - each time David mentions the "about a year" thing I can't help blink at the screen and do the cocks-head-on-the-side thing because it doesn't compute. I prefer to think of it as a goof on the writers' part *shrug*

  • I can't get enough of some of the looks exchanged between the characters. Here I'm thinking of the one between Cooper and Don when Charlie is explaining his theory for the first time. It's one of skepticism on Coop's part and of support on Don's - you know as if they were having a discussion right this minute going "Your bro is cute - pretty hot too - and he does look smart, so no offense meant but... is he on some kind of drugs?" And Don is like "I know it sounds out of there but he knows what he's talking about. Trust me. Trust him." Awesome!

  • Another look I adore is between the brothers this time. It's provoked by Cooper's questioning of Charlie's method again - though never in a hostile way. Coop doubts Charlie's numbers and Charlie casts a very brief, fugitive glance toward his brother - and Don immediately replies to him by a very quick nod of his own and that's all Charlie needs to really go at it and just - that scene... is so very brilliant! It lasts, what, two seconds? But I love it *g*

  • I quite enjoy how Cooper doesn't show any real hostility toward Charlie. I mean, the whole New Cop Hates Favourite Character On Sight is a theme I love in fanfics - and I want to take a minute here to thank the Sentinel fandom for providing me those stories. A lot - but I realise I do enjoy how it doesn't happen in Numb3rs. Sure, new players do show some skepticism toward Charlie's methods - and seriously you can't exactly blame them for that - but they also listen to him almost immediately. I like how the characters in that show - male and female - are all portrayed as smart and competent. Like Coop. He's your typical bad ass, tough guy, right? But he's also smart enough a) not to diss Charlie's theories right away and b) to realise pretty quickly how useful they can be. He goes with the flow pretty fast. Kudos to him.

  • Still love the Math for Non Mathematicians Class scene more than words can say *cuddles it*

  • And I won't even mention the last scene because, well, the Chess Scene? Is so beautiful and cute and funny and sweet and wonderful and feel-good that I could write a whole essay on the awesomeness of it! How fantastic is that scene omg! *worships*

  • Man... rambling about Numb3rs feels so good!

On a different note. Like I said, I watched "I, ET" and I really got into it. Got into it so much that today during lunch break I might have sorta kinda bought the first box-set of season 1 *cough* [livejournal.com profile] oceana_? I might hate you a tiny bit, too *nodnod*

I have a question btw... it might totally have no importance whatsoever - though since I'm 100% spoiler-free, I have no idea whether it is just a tiny detail or actually relevant - but I'm curious about it. So, is Dargo - or D'argo. How is it spelled, anyway? - a teenager? I mean... is he supposed to be an adult or not? And like I said, I have no idea if it's even something that is addressed for real or not, but I can't help it, I just keep asking myself the question, so anyone?

It's D'Argo -- and I believe he's ~30 years old, but for Luxons, that *is* teenagedish. Obviously one can't map the ages exactly, but I'd say he's in his very late teens or early twenties -- and the immaturity defnitely shows. His arc is pretty much a coming of age story, I think.

I'm SO HAPPY you're getting into 'Scape -- it is AWESOME. :)

Thanks - for the name and the explanation *g*

That's what I thought, him being teenagedish. I mean, in the pilot Zhaan calls him a "boy" - to which he, typically, reacts strongly - and then in "I, ET" when Rygel - btw, so sorry for butchering all the names! - takes the knife he complains about how gross it is because of what those Luxons do with it when they come of age and doesn't Zhaan say something about how "D'Argo will want to have it back" or something? So that's why I was quite intrigued by it *g*

His arc is pretty much a coming of age story, I think.

    That should be interesting *g*

I'm SO HAPPY you're getting into 'Scape -- it is AWESOME. :)

I took my sweet time to join the bandwagon, didn't I? lol But I'm enjoying the ride, already *g*

Canon seems to be that Luxans mature physically much faster than humans, but aren't considered emotionally mature until later.

At any rate, at this point D'Argo's definitely a teenager emotionally, and like most teenagers is busy trying to convince everyone else (and himself) that he's really a grown-up *g*.

btw, so sorry for butchering all the names!

You're doing great with them so far (for reference: Zhaan. Rygel. D'Argo. Aeryn. Crichton. Moya. Crais).

Love your comments on Numb3rs! I'll have to keep them in mind when I get to re-watching that one. I remember Charlie looking at Don before he went on to tell Coop something like, 'but I'm sure you'll tell me if I'm wrong', but I don't remember Don's look, so I'll have to pay more attention to him. Nor do I remember the very beginning, so I'm definitely looking forward to squeeing over that, too, lol!

I thought the 'year' comment was weird too. Please, it's been a couple of months! Although, I wonder if they want us to think it's a year because it's one season? *rolls eyes*

Yeah, you should totally watch that episode again!

Although, I wonder if they want us to think it's a year because it's one season?

Oh yeah? Well if they wanted us to believe that, they should have given us nineteenish episodes *glares at TPTB* I want more... moremoremore *loves*

oh yeah, those little glances are just perfect! and like you, I love the fact that Cooper doesn't ditch Charlie or anything - the only reaction I find slightly rude is Alan toward Coop - how he doesn't seem particularly happy to see him (with reason)

Alan is quite harsh toward Cooper, you're right. Poor Coop - but daddy!Eppes is worried, so yeah, we do understand his reasons.

And the glances are the best!

yeah, I kinda like that 'mother hen' thing Alan has going on lol - I like the way he tells 'I'll see you at dinner - both of you' - there is noooo discussion!

but of course, the dictionary bit is the best in that episode lol

Yes! I love how it's more an order than anything - he's not asking or suggesting, he's telling Don to be there. I loved that.

And the dictionary bit is one of those precious moments in series lol

Also, I lost access to IE last night - that is, I could only surf from the one page I'd opened, but not directly open others, so I'm celebrating its return by commenting before rushing to work ;-)

My theory is that Alan is worried about more than just the prospect of Don returning to fugitive recovery. He senses there is more between Don and Coop. Significantly more, if you catch my drift.

In RL, if this were true, it would really bother me. Nothing irritates me more than the NIMBY syndrome. People profess to be open-minded and accepting of gay people, so long as it's not one of their kids. Alan's totally in favor of Don dating a fellow agent like Terry, but not Coop because he is male? *g*

Never thought of that theory before *g* And I think the reason is that I couldn't bear for my beloved Alan to be one of those persons *clings to Alan*

Alan's totally in favor of Don dating a fellow agent like Terry, but not Coop because he is male *g*

I seriously hope it wouldn't ever happen that way :-) Not daddy!Eppes omg! *clings tighter* I prefer to think that even if he suspected something more was going on, the only thing that would really bother him to the point of being kinda rude to Coop would be the bad influence of Coop on Don - how he brings Don's inner "bad boy" to the surface, ya know?

Wish I could give you more eps, but I myself succumbed and bought the DVDs. Ask me again when you've reached season 4 though, I have those on CD and can make you copies to make up for introducing you to it. Though, let's not forget that it was your idea in the first place... *g*

    That would be fantastic, thanks!

And what are you talking about, my idea? I'm a victim of, like, fate! First they air s9 and there's Vala and Cameron and just - how much do I love them? And of course, my whole flist is raving about Aeryn this and John that and I start to seriously wonder about them and then bam! You actually sneak up on me and gift me with the CDs. And of course I watch them and wow, that show? Seriously rocks - so I just need to know more and Virgin had that cheap fist box-set of s1 in store and I was lured into buying it!

So, no, this wasn't my idea at all. I'm a victim.

It's odd, but for some reason I thought D'Argo was only 8 years old because Luxons' mature a lot faster than other species. However, I can't find it anywhere online so I'm probably wrong!

Manhunt is such a great Numb3rs episode *nods*!

I'm going to book my ticket tomorrow if everything is still okay with you... ^________^!
