Went to the movies with tbf!Rissy after class - we finally saw Wallace & Gromit : the curse of the wereabbit. I feared this would become a new Cursed Movie but no. Me happy :-) There was also a trailer for HP and I might have squeed a little because now I can say "I saw two members of the cast, you know!" And wow *happy sigh* Oh, speaking of the French premiere - remember when I mentioned a group being dressed up? Here they are. They look good, don't they? And I hadn't realised there were only two Gryffindors, btw *g*
Changing the subject now - I watched Supernatural 1x08, woohoo!
Bugs! That... was not what I'd call nice. The shower scene with Mrs Realtor Girl? I couldn't watch it. I didn't even put my glasses off so that it would be all blurry and I would just see shapes like I usually do, this time I thought it would be smarter to just - not watch. So I did. Not watch, I mean ;-) I'm sorry but spiders coming off the shower to attack you? Not my idea of fun *shudder*
Hey you know, for all that Sam is supposed to be the one who's here only to a) avenge Jessica and b) kinda find their father as well, it feels like he's quite eager to go hunting too. I mean, you would think it would be Dean dragging him along all the time - like he did in the pilot - but here it was the other way around, and it's not the first time either.
We had some nice Family Issue moments with that episode too - thank you for that, PTB! And this time we were seeing the issues on Sam's side. So he feels as if their dad is disappointed in him, uh? And Dean is apparently not the only one with the "brother issue" as Sam is feeling a tad jealous of Dean too. Cue to nice little discussions between the two guys - and then we're back to Dean defending their dad and seriously, I absolutely love the daddy!Winchester-Dean relationship. And okay, technically we never even saw them interact - not as adults, that is - but I'm really interested in their dynamic and I just love it *shrug* Even more so than the daddy!Winchester-Sam one. I'm really curious about the two years Dean and his dad hunted together - and I know, I already mentioned it, but it's true, I'm even more curious with each new episode. There's so much love here... and sure, there's issues as well but it just makes the father-son relationship more appealing ;-)
Also, speaking of daddy!Winchester, I loved that we got to hear more about him via Dean. The whole "wanting-to-make-sure-Sam-was-safe" part was pretty touching. I wondered for a moment whether Dean was lying to his brother but since I have no proof one way or the other, I decided to believe he told the truth.
And btw, what was that obsession about the whole lie v truth thing? Dude, how many times did they mention that theme?
Back to the brothers - there were quite a lot of great moments in that episode, great character moments, like when Dean talks about living a normal life and how he couldn't stand it. It makes me wonder about the brothers - as if I did anything else, admittedly.
But okay, on one side we have Sam who, though raised to be a warrior, only ever wished for a normal life - tasted it for a time - and on the other we have Dean and sure, I do believe he couldn't live a normal life now, but how much did he lose exactly by living the way he does? I mean, was Dean predisposed to not want a normal life or was he more like Sam - and if he was, he lost something precious en route and how did he lose it exactly? Unlike his brother who apparently never lost sight of his goal, namely lead the life they certainly would have led if their mother hadn't been killed that way.
And there was the recurrent not-so-dormant issue re: Sam leaving the family and Dean staying with their dad. It feels like the one issue that won't ever be solved - not that I'm complaining cause it always brings angst and conflict.
Dude, I just love those guys!
Random thoughts now:
Joe Dawson! Well okay Jim Byrnes. He was there. Hello Joe! Fancy seeing you here *g*
"Don't drop me". Ha! Sam cracked me up with that one. As if your honey could do that to you *shakes head*
Dean watches Oprah! His face when Sam calls him on it. Priceless!
Still speaking of Dean, he is the sweetest thing! His "the shower's awesome" with that towel on his head was just - there's no words, really, but yes, Sweetest Thing Ever.
Hey at the very beginning of the episode? The whole hustling pool moment - at least, I believe that's what they said. I decided to forget the pool thing and focus on the hustling thing and wow... hooker!Dean *glassy eyes* Yeah, loved that one!
And of course the whole gay thing, which yeah - was pure bliss, thank you very much.
In case you were wondering, I really liked that episode *is happy*
Also, while I was capping some scenes, I got a little carried away and er - okay, you can't blame me for this [warning: pic semi-heavy and incest fullblown-heavy]:
Sam is whoring Dean
And he doesn't know whether to be jealous over the men who're fucking his brother, or just turned on at the thought.

Sam: *trying to focus on newspaper* Can't believe they've been doing him for so long. I should have been more specific. When I say "fast and hard", I do mean it.

Dean: Hey bro! Look at that, MONEY!

Dean: I did this thing with my mouth, you know, the thing you love so much.

Sam: *tries to go for casual* Dean! I don't care, all right? I have more interesting things in mind.

Dean: *sing song* Someone is jeaaaalous.

Sam: *broods* No. It's just - it's been two days since you did this thing with your mouth.

Sam: Now it's my turn, got it?
Dean: Woohoo!
Everyone Knows Sam and Dean Are Doing It

Mr Realtor Guy: We accept everyone - from all races, religions and sexual orientations.

Sam: *doesn't remember cover story*
Dean: Hey no, we're not gay. I mean, we're not fucking each other. I mean, we're brothers. Yes, brothers, as in, same parents and all that jazz.
Sam: Brothers, that's what I was gonna say. Not, you know, lovers - I have absolutely no idea how hot he looks right after he's been fucked into next week. Nope, not me!

Mr Realtor Guy: Right.
Everyone.

Mrs Realtor Gal: We accept everyone - from all races, religions and sexual orientations

Dean: Maan!

Mrs Realtor Girl: Also? You're hot!
And I do mean, everyone.

Mr Storyteller: Liar!

Sam: Dean!
Dean: I didn't even say anything!

Mr Storyteller: You were going to say you two aren't fucking like rabbits.

Dean: Oh. Well, yeah okay - don't mind me, then.
Dude! I love Supernatural so much!
And btw, please! Does anyone know where I can find [downloadable or just watchable] the preview for next week's episode? Because I was friendsfriend surfing and I read something about it and ARE WE TUESDAY YET? And since we're not - I would love to watch The Sceneagain and again and again at least once. So is it possible? TIA.

Date: 2005-11-10 02:46 am (UTC)And yeah, it was a really good ep, except for the fact that they got to the realtor guy's house just before midnight (as Sam so nicely emphasized) and the few hours between then and dawn just went woosh! I thought everything but that was done well, but that part? Kinda screwed it a bit for me. Shame. I was however very happy with the more family oriented scenes, yeah. And the scene with Dean calling sam "honey" and patting his butt made me laugh, though not for the same reasons as you since incest squicks me big time, lol.

Date: 2005-11-10 03:19 am (UTC)I'd thought he said it while they were leaving the res, which would have at least accounted for an hour (if not more) for them to drive from there to the housing development.
I was so hoping to find SOME kind of explanation, because that was just totally ridiculous. Someone wasn't paying attention, obviously.
no subject
Date: 2005-11-10 11:57 am (UTC)It was midnight when they went to the family's house? You're kidding me! I completely missed the time reference and I was already thinking it looked ridiculous but I tried to rationalise and go "okay it was very late - well, very early and it's getting day early what with the equinox thing and all that" - I thought the half night had passed and it was time for half day already. Or something.
But wow, yeah it was ridiculous for real, then. Too bad because it suddenly sounds like someone didn't do their homework, ya know?
Technically, I saw the scene with the "honey" and the ass slapping the same way you did. I watch my show without any slash or gay spectacles - it's only when I come to play with the fanon that I enter the Very Wrong theme lol But anyway yeah, that scene was just too funny ;-)
no subject
Date: 2005-11-10 05:16 pm (UTC)As for the very very fast night scene, yes, it WAS ridiculous. It's what amuses me the most about this show: the absolutely huge and amazingly bad discrepencies. Every episode hides a jewel of a rushed or silly scene, it's funny. And yet, I still adore it to pieces. I'm still wondering about that, lol. Especially since me not being into incest, I see no slash whatsoever in it. I must be sick or something...
But I don't care! Cuz I adore it anyway so there! LOL
As for the slash, yo, to each their own. I really don't like incest so I just don't read it, is all. But you know, not going to preach and hang every incest reader/writer because of that, lol. We're talking fiction here so it's really no big deal. Tastes, right? :-)
And completely unrelated but I got your package today! Wheeeeeeeeee! It couldn't come at a better time, I've just been reading a lot of Sentinel fic lately, sort of found myself on a Sentinel kick so it's going to be fun to finally see the eps! (I only ever saw like three or four of them in all ever, lol). Thank you thank you thank you! :-)
Would you in return be interested in anything I may have? I've got... the complete seasons 1 and 2 of "Hustle", or the entire "Space Above & Beyond" series... I shall have hopefully the complete 1st season of "Highlander" and "the L Word" soon, too, so if there's anything you want... let me know. :-)

Date: 2005-11-10 06:10 pm (UTC)It's so nice reading something like this! I mean, I always understand when someone loathes something I love - and considering some of my tastes, it's pretty much the norm - but have quite a lot of trouble with people who are apparently unable to do me the same courtesy. So yeah, it's just different tastes in fiction *g*
And you got it already? Yay! Actually, it should have left a lot earlier but the package got lost or something. Anyway, am happy it finally made it home and you're welcome of course *g*
As for being interested in something in return, though it's not an obligation at all, yeah, I could be, thank you a lot! I'll let you know, alright? :-) I need to decide what to pick because yeah, kinda liked that list of your *g*

Date: 2005-11-10 06:42 pm (UTC)Well, the only things I have for sure at the moment are Hustle and Space, and since they're .avi files (which I'm hoping you can read fine?), I can send all of those to you on a couple of DVDs if you want, no big deal. I can always send you the rest later, when I have it (since you never know until it's done downloaded whether it'll work or not). but yeah, let me know. :-) Oh, I have Serenity, too, as a DVD and it's pretty good quality for such an early rip, it's not someone filming the screen with a camera if you know what I mean. So if you're interested in that too... let me know. :-)

Date: 2005-11-10 12:01 pm (UTC)no subject
Date: 2005-11-10 03:17 am (UTC)I think that's due to a difference in their personalities. Dean is much more laid back and casual. He approaches hunting like you or I would approach our normal, mundane day jobs. He doesn't get excited or intense over it until he's actually engaged in the hunt. Whereas Sam is much more earnest and takes things more seriously. He comes off as more focused.
And this time we were seeing the issues on Sam's side. So he feels as if their dad is disappointed in him, uh?
Sam's issues kind of annoyed me for some reason. For one thing, that guy from the airplane episode already told Sam that daddy!Winchester was proud of him and couldn't stop talking about his smart kid going to Stanford -- which Dean confirmed. So Sam should already know that his dad was still proud of him. It bugs me that he was so stuck being bitter that he apparently already forgot all about that and was intent on believing his dad didn't like him.
Cue to nice little discussions between the two guys - and then we're back to Dean defending their dad and seriously, I absolutely love the daddy!Winchester-Dean relationship.
Me too! I love seeing how devoted Dean is to him. How loyal and how much he loves him and believes in him. And I think that makes sense. Dean knew daddy!Winchester before Mary was killed, so he remembers what an awesome dad he was, and how grief-stricken he must have been afterward. Dean saw Mary killed, had that perfect life ripped away from him, so he obviously is the one who can most understand why daddy!Winchester is the way he is. I'm sure he agrees with him, because he feels the same way. That's part of why he's not upset about his lifestyle the same way Sam is. It's not something that was forced on him. It's something he WANTS, because he's still hurting and still out for vengeance. We've seen that. Which... more on that later.
And btw, what was that obsession about the whole lie v truth thing? Dude, how many times did they mention that theme?
I think it was supposed to further illustrate the difference between Sam and Dean. Sam's the one who wants to be normal, and he's the honest one. Dean's the one who can't handle normality, and he's the one who lies and manipulates and hustles pool.
Still, it really annoys me that the Native American dude got on Dean's case. Sure, he was the one who actually voiced the lie, but Sam was going along with it. It was as much Sam's lie as Dean's, because it's not like Sam was going to tell him who they really were, you know? It was stupid, and I didn't really like the distinction that was made there, because Sam lies plenty.
I mean, was Dean predisposed to not want a normal life or was he more like Sam - and if he was, he lost something precious en route and how did he lose it exactly?
Okay, continuing my thought from above. Sam never knew their mother. He's not consumed with the need to figure out what happened to her, and to avenge her death the way Dean and daddy!Winchester are, simply because he was only a baby and wasn't there to experience the grief. He doesn't have the same motivation or drive as Dean, so he naturally wanted to be normal. But Dean DID know his mother, DID see her die, DID miss her and have to deal with the grief. So it was only natural for Dean to take up the hunting, and he probably clung to that as a way to deal, just like his dad did. So he CAN'T be normal -- he's too consumed and too invested. He's devoted his whole life to it the way Sam never did, so it's not like he can just give it up the way Sam did.
... I'm going to have to ramble more about this in my own journal. XD I have SO many thoughts about it.
no subject
Date: 2005-11-10 12:15 pm (UTC)That he certainly does *nods*
For one thing, that guy from the airplane episode already told Sam that daddy!Winchester was proud of him
Ohhh you have better memories than I have, I'd completely forgotten about that! You're so right. I have to say his issues annoyed me a bit in the sense that for a moment it sounded almost, I don't know, forced or something. I mean, it was like he needed to have daddy issue so he took that one. Which I know, isn't fair but that's how I felt for a moment.
Now that you reminded me of that episode, it feels even more annoying somehow.
Me too! I love seeing how devoted Dean is to him. How loyal and how much he loves him and believes in him. And I think that makes sense.
To me, it's also due to the fact that for two years, Dean and his dad fought together without the last member of their hunting group. I mean, even if daddy!Winchester was proud of Sam, he had to feel hurt to have lost" one of his two sons - that would have made Dean even more protective of their dad, maybe. And it had to make them even closer in any case. Like you said, Dean's devotion for his father is a joy to see *g*
I think it was supposed to further illustrate the difference between Sam and Dean.
That's what it was, but what I meant was - I mean, it was so much In Our Face. It came on too strong, almost. What happened to subtle? It's been clear from the first episode that Dean lies and obfuscates but a) it's necessary and b) Sam goes with the flow as well, it's not as if they can tell the truth all the time.
Which brings me to the Native American Dude scene and I'm with you, I really disliked the fact that he got on Dean's case. Didn't like the distinction between the two either *shakes head*
He's devoted his whole life to it the way Sam never did, so it's not like he can just give it up the way Sam did
Yeah but technically, Sam never even knew a different life, the Hunting Life was literally everything he's ever known. Without a point of reference, he could have completely assimilated it and not even want to try something else. He could also have been quite eager to punish whatever robbed him from the Normal Life he never ever had.
Which I know is a moot point since that's exactly the opposite that happened. But yeah, I'm really interested in the whole thing *g*
I'm going to have to ramble more about this in my own journal. XD I have SO many thoughts about it.
Looking forward to reading those thoughts :-)
