I find it pretty ironic - or would that be typical? - that in my last entry - posted just last week, you guys! - I mentioned how I was quite happy that I was managing to stick to a pretty healthy sleep schedule by going to bed around 11.30PM, at least as much as possible. Of course, that same week I found myself looking up from the screen and at the clock and realising that, damn, it was 1.48AM already and how did that happen?
Well. How it happened is pretty simple and, I am sure, quite relatable to many of you. Wait, let me do this properly - and let me know if any of it sounds familiar ;)
So. On Tuesday, Cookie and I watched the premiere of Prodigal Son. To say we/I enjoyed it would be quite an understatement. I loved it. Is it groundbreaking material? No. Is it a bit OTT? Yes. Do I care? The answer is a resounding no. I enjoyed every single minute of it. The cast is really good and the characters' relationships and/or dynamics totally up my alley. I had a lot of fun watching it and sometimes, you don't want/need anything more than that. I'm planning on tuning in next week (I'm counting the days, if I want to be completely transparent with you) and will hopefully keep on having fun with that new show every week #FingersCrossed
So back to Tuesday. As per usual, after feeling the very first signs of a new tv-love being born, I found myself visiting the usual joints, beginning with AO3 to see if anything had been posted yet (which, guys, the pilot aired on Monday, there wasn't a lot of chance of that, right? Wrong! Fic had been posted already, although mostly based on the trailer, meaning with no actual full-episode material and they weren't to my liking, anyway. Still, it does mean that the fandom exists and that's never a bad thing, so thank you, early writers!).
If I accepted that it was a bit too soon for AO3, I knew YT would be there for me. Cue my watching many interviews with Tom Payne (who turns out is British which, ha, no wonder it was love at first sight for me!). Fast-forward to last night when I found out that the bloke had played in The Walking Dead. Ok, then! The next logical step was obviously to go and visit the show's wiki and read about his character a tiny bit. What do you know, he sounded interesting! So what was I to do? I had no other choice but to give it a try, of course. Not watch TWD, mind - I don't care about that show - but I surmised it could be worth checking out Paul 'Jesus' Rovia's scenes. As you do. Just a couple, though. In order to see how Tom Payne fared and how different he was from his role as Malcolm in Prodigal Son. For scientific purposes, in other words. Just a matter of a couple of scenes. Right?
Ha! Once I started, I couldn't stop! lol Thing is, as much as I dislike the show and most of his main characters, Jesus was so good! Totally my kind of character, I was a little bit in love ♥ And so, thanks to Netflix (France), I watched all of the scenes he was in from season 6 to season 8. Then Netflix abandoned me as it couldn't offer me season 9. Never fear, though, I knew my usual streaming site wouldn't let me down. It did not but that's when I realised that it was already past 1.15 AM. Ouch! If fast-forwarding was simple with Netflix, it wasn't as easy with aforementioned streaming site so I had to be strategic and decided to watch one episode and start with 9x08 because - well, ( if you watch TWD, you know why )
When I finished the episode (or the Jesus edits, if you will), it was around 1.50 AM. Oops. Then again, I have done much worse. Not that it should be a point of reference, mind.
So here is it. The simple story of how I lose many hours of sleep on a regular basis due to tv. Or my lack of discipline? Lack of judgement? Lack of something. Well, lack of a good night sleep is definitely how it ends, at any rate.
Do I regret it? I can't even say I do ;)
