Victory! I finally managed to catch Boston Legal. So okay I missed the beginning but I didn't miss it all, so yay! First impressions: cool show. Captain Kirk rocks. James Spader does as well - though I keep associating the actor with movieverse!Daniel and, dude, he looks so old different now. And there's Eddie Arlette! I don't know what to think of Blondie but Brunette Girl is hot. Which reminds me - note to self: learn the names of the characters.

I also watched DW "Love and Monsters". I have the feeling the episode might have disappointed a lot of people and that it was not, by far, a favourite? But, dude, I loved it. And I'll admit it might be because I'm a bit of a Marc Warren fan and I thought he was just brilliant in that episode but, even then, I adored the Linda group as a whole and the storyline too. Sure, it was quite different from usual and maybe it wasn't really a Doctor Who episode but the question would be, did I mind? Cause I definitely didn't. I loved it. I also loved the way it was filmed.

I love Elton's character, I thought he was really sweet and loveable, as were the rest of the Linda group. Also, being a fangirl, I guess their meetings kinda spoke to me as it was basically a group of fans meeting to talk about their obsession before becoming friends as time passed and that's fandom a lot of times, you know? So I was quite receptive to that part of the story. And did I say I loved the whole group? Elton of course but Ursula and Bridget and Bliss and Mr Skinner. They were so cute.

I cheered like mad when Ursula came to Elton's defense. And I was amused at Elton being ogled and molested by Jackie. It's always nice to see some role reversal on the telly :-)

Something I love in DW - and I keep saying it - is the range of emotions that is usually displayed in one single episode. From light to serious, from funny to angsty, from laughter to tears. I smiled and laughed a lot with Elton and his tales, at the way it was filmed, too. And then the mood shifted and I was saddened by the loss of everyone, though Ursula's hit me the hardest. The way she protected Elton til the very end... it was very moving. And Jackie also made me ache. Loved her little speech about those who are left behind, her loneliness... and adored how protective she was of both Rose and the Doctor. Protectiveness that is definitely mutual like we saw when Ten and Rose went after Elton when he was about to be absorbed.

I also loved Elton's little speech at the end. I wonder how foreshadowing it is exactly. Or if it is *ponders*

Speaking of that last scene, I did have a problem with it, I'll admit. On the one hand, I was so very sad at Ursula's death that I should have been happy to see her back but er, it just freaked me out a bit, I think. Or maybe it was just the sex life mention, I don't know. I mean, I suppose it was meant to be funny and I'm usually all for the innuendos - and blowjobs are supposedly hot and everything - but somehow it just didn't work for me *shrug*

Oh and about Ursula - as soon as she spoke, I knew I'd seen her somewhere and then it came back to me, Moaning Myrtle! That was Moaning Myrtle. It's not the kind of voice you easily forget, is it? ;-)

So I did love the episode, though I had a bit of a problem with the ending, yes. And [livejournal.com profile] sockich? I don't think you're into DW, are you? But even if you're not, I'd still rec that episode. Seriously, Marc Warren was too sweet for words, and I think the episode could work even for a non fan of DW or something. Just a thought.

Unrelated now. Fandom makes us do Bad Things. After a beautiful SV rant in [livejournal.com profile] la_folle_allure's journal, mentions of the hotness that might have been Lex and Jason - or Lex/Jason - were made and [livejournal.com profile] rosengirl recc'ed a vid to me. So I, Mousey Mouse, actually downloaded a Smallville songvid. Yes, I did. I even liked it. But a vid isn't the show and, seriously, it told the tale of two damaged boys and their respective incestuous parents... please, tell me how I wasn't supposed to find that interesting? But be assured that it didn't make me want to watch the show. Unless M6 decides to edit season four and only show the scenes with Jason in it. Then, I could get into it. But, somehow, I doubt it would happen.

Okay now, off to watch The 4400 before I run my errands and visit One of the Best Friends.

Hmm, well, I was thinking about maybe starting to watch DW (although, there's like years of history there, right? And I know nothing about it, so I wouldn't even know where so I start. Where did you start?), so I guess I might as well make this my introduction to the thing. Heh, the things I'm willing to do for some pretty men.

So I, Mousey Mouse, actually downloaded a Smallville songvid.

AHAHAHAHA, that? Just made me laugh out loud. But hey, it's pretty much completely understandable. Like you said, two damaged boys and their respective incestuous parents, who wouldn't be interested (well, yeah, okay, there probably are such people around, but I don't think I wanna know them, really *g*). Speaking of Smallville I still haven't even started on my big summer SV marathon, good thing you reminded me. ;)

Okay now, off to watch The 4400

I'm really curious as to what you'll think of the ep.

This is, indeed, the twenty-eighth series of something like that, DW fans have known about it for all their lives it seems. I didn't know the first thing about it myself - apart from what what was said about it in Queer as Folk - but it didn't make it impossible for me to get into the new series.

There are a lot of references to past series but it's either explained or implied and I never felt lost per se. And even when I have a question, I just have to ask the flist - or hit a couple of sites - and I get all the answers I need *g*

As for where I started; I started with Nine - the series that aired last year - and now we're with Ten, ie the ninth doctor and the tenth one.

The vid was great: at least something good to be found about SV lol

I did like the episode, nothing happened per se but it was nice. I could do without some things, I'll admit, but I'll just wait to see where it leads us to...

oh, I know *exactly* which sv vid that is that you watched, and yeah, it's fantastic and about nine million times better than the actual SHOW, lol.

Yep I linked "make me bad" by [livejournal.com profile] freling_tralk
It *is* the best parts of season 4 condensed in a v.v.v.v. hot musicvid *fan*

The one by [livejournal.com profile] frelling_tralk, right? It was fantastic :-) And I was told it was actually a lot better than the actual season, yes lol

Pas étonnant, j'avoue :-) And hmm torture, sounds delicious!

Really? I thought it was superb! But then I might be biased, lol!

and blowjobs are supposedly hot and everything

*laughs* I am so glad that I am not the only one whose mind that flashed across!

From what I saw on my flist, the opinion seemed quite split. I saw a lot of negative feedbacks. Obviously, I'm in the I Loved It clan - and I'm in good company, it seems too *g*

Re: the blojow. Dude, they all but spelt it out to us, didn't they? lol

Very nice summary my dear! I would have to agree with you-I enjoyed a lot of the episode (the fans getting together, becoming friends) but some of the weird parts just...well, weirded me out. Especially the last scene with Ursula. Very strange. I too loved how they filmed it, as if Elton was making his own documentary. Pretty neat. But overall, not my favorite episode. I needed more DT! I mean, for me, after "Satan's Pit" this episode was a complete let down.

I just love that kind of storyline. Like in that episode of Buffy, "Storyteller" or something like that? The episode that totally turned me into an Andrew fan. I loved him before but he became my favourite character after that one *g*

Hey you remind me that I still haven't watched "Satan's Pit", I'll try to do that today *nods*

Boston Legal! I love that show. William Shatner is Denny Crane, and he has Alzheimers, which he affectionately refers to as Mad Cow. James Spader is Alan Shore; he's snarky and has fucked every woman on the planet except you and I. Candice Bergan is Shirley Schmidt, a woman of balls and intelligence. None of the other characters really matter; they just kind of do things.

I loved the ep too, but opinion is split. I've seen posts by people who both love and hate it. I was watching with Corey, and despite him being a huge fan of the show he lost interest due to the lack of Doctor and Rose. I assume that's how it struck other people too.

But for me, Linda were wonderful, so fannish, and Elton. Man, loved him!

I have to agree with you about the end though. I love all kinds of sex innuendo, but there was something kind of sad and pathetic about getting blowjobs from what comes down to a face in a pavement slab. Sure they're together, but it seems wrong somehow.

I've seen some negative feedbacks too. Actually, I think more of those than positive ones. I do get their point, but I can't agree; I seriously loved it. Rewatched it last night instead of catching up with the last two that I still haven't watched *g*

And we agree on the ending *nods*
