So, yesterday? I deleted my entry *facepalm* You'd think after three years I'd have mastered the whole lj thing, right? lol And I always, always spell check my entries... except for that time. So my beloved auto-saved draft didn't show up.

Anyway, the gist of it was; we lost. Which sucked in the sense that, well, you always want your team to win, you know? Nothing important in the big scheme of things, just a little thing that would please you to no end. Besides, if the first half was kinda all Italian, the second half was really all French. They did play a lot better than the other team by then, I thought. So we were ready to see them score a second time because they deserved it and all that shit, right?

Then Zidane lost his mind and La Globule and I were blinking at the screen for a moment, trying to make sense of it all. It's a bit ironical, even, as just a few minutes before we'd waxed poetry about Zizou's calm and zen attitude. Guess he's just human, right? Still, no matter what he was told by the Italian player or what was done to him during the match, what he did was wrong - but, man, I hate that it's his last move on the field, that's for sure. I just - he's Zizou, you know?

Still, we went as far as was possible in the competition when no one believed we would even make it through the first round, so that's a victory in itself. And congrats to Italy and their new gold star.

Changing the subject; I watched Psych and aww it's so cute! It's really funny and incredibly cute and Shawn and Gus are adorkable and I'll download the rest. I also hope we'll get to see Henry a lot because yay! A new Papa in town! Anyway, Psych will make a change from all my other angsty shows ;-)

Speaking of which, I've watched the Doctor Who finale and boy did I cry! I couldn't stop at the end. Billie Piper sobs like nobody's business - she was brilliant. And that scene on the beach was so sad, so heartbreaking!

But it wasn't even the end of it; when Ten was back on the TARDIS, all alone... it broke my heart again. Such loneliness - it really touched me.

Now, though, I can't say I liked the Bride's appearance. I thought it, I don't know, cheapened the moment or something. I do get that it was a way to a) introduce the next episode and b) show that life goes on for the Doctor and all of that, but it doesn't mean I have to like it *pout*

So, yes, that was good. What will be even better - hopefully - is the new The 4400 episode, which is already downloading, yay!

What a terrible way for Zidane to end his career :(. I wonder what Matterazzi said to him that caused that reaction. I was pretty stunned to see Zidane just knocking him over :O <-- that was my face last night.

Couldn't watch the penalty shoot-out either :P. The Italians are usually as good at as the Dutch, that is to say, not at all.

Re: Doctor Who. I cried the last twenty minutes pretty much non-stop. The hardest/best part was watching Billie Piper lean against that wall, crying her heart out. Pretty powerful *sniff*

People are talking about a racist comment from Matterazzi. I don't know, really. My cousin and I was flabbergasted because it was so something we were not expecting. I mean Zidane already did some not so nice little things to other players through the years - not that much, maybe, but I remember that time in 1998 - but that was so violent, you know? I guess what the guy told him was the straw that broke the camel's back... it just sucks that it happened that way.

I watched with one eye only, believe me. Poor Trézéguet... must be tough being the only one who missed; and it's not even as if he missed that much either. Well, it wasn't meant to be *shrug*

The whole ending of DW was heartbreaking... they played it so well, they did me in. Both of them. I also loved when Pete came back to snatch Rose away - god, I was already seeing her dead in the void, you know?

Hmm, well, I don't know. I mean, yeah, it would have been better if he kept his calm but...Materassi cast racial slurs at him (some are even saying he called him a terrorist) and if that's true, than I not only condone but applaud Zidane for what he did. Racism in any form should never go unpunished and since there was probably no official way of punishing him, I'm glad he got headbutted. Yes, it would have been even sweeter if he kept calm and won the game, but I expect that he just lost it. I mean, he was probably a victim of racism a lot of times in his life and even if he weren't...well, I just understand why he did what he did. I would have done the exact same thing, probably.

It is sad though that now everybody's talking about that and not his excellent playing.

Um, yeah, moving on now. Psych. It rocks so much, doesn't it? And hee, yes, a new papa in town and lots of daddy-son issues and yay! *loves on her new show already*

And The 4400 is downloading and it is very exciting and now I really have to get of the comp as the brother will kill me for taking over his time, lol.

I don't see it that way; I don't condone violence, no matter what the reason might be. Or, say, I don't condone physical violence when words were pronounced. I've been called a bitch and some other niceties over the years but they were just words and I never thought it would have been smart on my part to physically hurt someone because of that, you know? And, sure, it might have been a lot different for Zidane and I do acknowledge that fact but I still don't think it's right - even if was just human maybe.

Defend yourself if you've been hit first, oh yeah, go ahead, but fists for words - or head in that case - is just an escalation I'm not happy with.

Also, if Materrazi did call Zidane a 'terrorist' then the insult was so fucking ridiculous that it didn't deserve any kind of replies.

I'm not saying I don't understand where Zidane is coming from; the man lost his cool and he had a reason... I just don't think it was a good enough reason to hurt someone. Or an excuse, know what I mean?

And lot of people are saying they would have reacted the same way, which I understnand, and maybe one day I'll be pushed over my own limits and act that way but just because everybody else - or I - would have reacted like that doesn't mean it validates the behaviour and make it right ;-) I mean, that's just how I see it, obviously.

Having said that, between you and me? I think I prefer having someone on my team who headbutted a racist in retaliation than a racist, so yeah...

I squeed when I realised Papa Spencer might be a recurring figure in the sereis, you go daddy issue! lol

And The 4400 just finished so I know what I'll watch tonight!

*gasp* No, you are wrong and must rectify your ways immediately. So says the Phoenix.

Umm, yeah, never mind, I think I spent a bit to much time watching X-Men parodies.

But yeah, I actually have a lot of respect for you for not condoning violence. I can get quite aggressive when I'm angry (which is why I understand what he did and feel that criticizing him would be all kinds of hypocritical) so I know how hard it is to keep your calm and not slap a bitch so any person who can not do that has my deepest admiration.

Heh, yeah, that was basically my way of saying I respect your wives. *beams*

is sad though that now everybody's talking about that and not his excellent playing.

I was watching the telly and though of reassuring you; at least here in France, Zizou is still applauded and loved by his supporters :-) The whole team was welcome under the cheers and applause of a huge crowd. Even M. Chirac spoke about his affection and respect for Zidane even in this 'tough moment of his career' lol

And Trézéguet - who missed the penalty kick? - was crying but the crowd made an ovation for him too...

Just thought you'd enjoy knowing that? *g*

Well, that is good to know. I mean, the guy is an awesome footballer and he had a lot to do with France getting to the final, so it'd be depressing if people forgot all that because of one incident.

And Trézéguet - who missed the penalty kick? - was crying but the crowd made an ovation for him too...

And that's even better to know. I can't even begin to imagine how the poor guy must feel, it's awesome that he has the fans support.

And yes, I did enjoy knowing that, thank you. *g*

That game was amazing, it's just that the PKs got in the way. Yeah, I was quite shocked by Zizou as well. I was explaining him to some friends and then he goes and does this!

I cried at the DW finale as well! So heartbreaking!

It started as a messy game but then players started playing well - well, the Italians are the master of simulation but whatever - and then the second half started and, really, I thought France was dominating the game, you know? So when It happened, well, dude, it was so weird!

Apparently Zidane had one too many racist slur thrown at him; it was the straw that broke the camel's back. Like I keep saying, I don't know either *shrug*

Heartbreaking finale *nods*

Doomsday did make my heart ache but I consoled myself with the fact that at least Rose a) isn't dead and b) is with her family and old boyfriend with the potential to lead a 'normal' life and not stuck in void!hell for eternity O.o!

The Doctor though; he just looked so sad but resigned to it because he knew that it would happen eventually, whether it be events or old age took Rose from him, he always knew that he would have to go on without her ;_;!

I'm sorry about the footie result, hun *hugs*!

Man, you're totally right; comparing to what could have been Rose's fate, the ending of "Doomsday" is actually a beautiful one. And, like you said, they were bound to be separated one day. But man, it was so sad... Billie Piper really did a great job, I thought.

As for Ten, he looked so sad but resigned, yes. What a lonely life he must have led - must still be leading...

Also, hey, I meant to ask - maybe you'll know; in one of the last episodes, Ten mentioned his having been a father? Could you tell me more about that?

There has to be a winner in each match, eh? Too bad it wasn't us; I'd have LOVED to get a second gold star on our shirt, believe you me :-)

The team came back to France as heroes, anyway... the crowd went wild when they saw them. It's a bit as they'd won, actually lol

Ten mentioned his having been a father?

From what I read online, people think that maybe it means that Susan really was his granddaughter (forgive me if you already know this, but I'm talking about the first Doctor here). I hope that it does get explained at some point and not just left.

Btw, I agree with you about the bride at the end, it felt all wrong ^^;! I can't wait to see how the Doctor meets his new companion, Martha Jones, and what sort of relationship he will have with her. I'm hoping they will be more aloof with each other because to have a loving relationship again would be odd, I think.

Still at least I'll have Torchwood to distract me until Christmas ^_^!

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
But if Susan was his granddaughter, then who was his child? Or do we not know? It was quite intriguing that comment. Well, it was for me, at least lol

I agree; Ten and the new Companion should take some time to really become a team cause so soon after Rose? I wouldn't like it, I admit.

Ahh Torchwood; we've been waiting for it forever, haven't we?

But if Susan was his granddaughter, then who was his child?

I have been doing a lot of research on this today because I want to know too... but from what I could find nothing was ever mentioned about her parents and to be honest, there is a lot of controversy over whether Susan was his granddaughter or not. This article is very interesting ^_^!

Ahh Torchwood; we've been waiting for it forever, haven't we?

We have indeed, lol!

And I love calling pretty girls 'mistress' *eg*

*blushes, then grins* Well, perhaps I should get used to it as one of Matt's work colleagues thinks I'm a dominatrix O.o! I'm curious though, what would that be in French?

Date: 2006-07-12 06:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Mistress ? It would be maîtresse. Which is funny because when you're in kindergarten or primary school, you tend to call your teachers either Maître ou Maîtresse, which is totally innocent by then, obviously, but when you become an adult, the term becomes definitely less innocent as it refers to either a woman who's having an affair with a married man - like in English - or a Dominatrix; well, I'm sure there are different terms here, but you know what I mean. Oh and 'maîtresse' was also used back then when someone served a woman; slaves or later servants.

From: [identity profile] yami-tai.livejournal.com
Maîtresse, eh? I've just googled it and yes, it definitely seems to be the term of choice for French dominatrices *g*!
