Aug. 2nd, 2006 12:47 pmFinally went to see Nos Voisins les Hommes yesterday with tbf!Rissy - I think the original title is Over the Hedge - and I had a lot of fun. It was cute and funny and just the kind of story that cracks me up. We always pick the French version when we're going to see an American animated film as opposed to a regular film because - well, just a matter of preference, but I know that I'll love hearing William Shatner play Ozzie once I buy the DVD. Should be a lot of fun too.
Speaking of going to the cinema, I'm a little afraid because I'm seeing Sandra today and I just have the feeling that she'll try to drag me to see Potc2 as it's being released today here and er, to make a comparison? I'm as impatient to see that film as I am to buy the complete series of Smallville on DVD. Yes. So I'll need to be firm - or just tell her that if she wants me to see the film, she'll have to pay for my ticket. I think it should do the trick. Unless she's feeling particular generous today? *chews bottom lip*
But anyway. Hey, I watched Kyle XY yesterday - I'm now part of the crowd that watches the show live. Well, Live + One Day, that is, and I absolutely loved it but it was definitely a bit different.
So yes it was different - or it was more like Kyle was different. One the one hand, it actually does make sense that he changed; a) he's slowly growing up so to speak, b) he's now going to school and he's bound to get more and more comfortable with the life around him and c) yes, he did read the encyclopedia so that would have made him more in tune with the world and it would have given him the push he needed to, like, talk and express himself because now he knows stuff so I do get it - but on the other hand, I just miss quiet!Kyle, the one who didn't really speak or only slowly and a little awkwardly and stuff.
Still, like I said, it's just the logical next step so I can't say it sucks. Besides it did give me a little more angst, kyle!angst in particular and that's always of the good. I quite enjoyed his outburst.
I'm still madly in love with the Tragers. Just love how normal they are... the adults act like adults and the teenagers act like teenagers - and even better yet, those teenagers are horny and they talk about sex and they want to have sex and they even do have sex and just - when you think of all those shows with teenagers where you're supposed to think that they're all asexual? Well, it's quite refreshing.
And the kids are also really sweet and that's another thing I love. How they might make mistakes and do stuff that hurt Kyle at first, but how they always make it up to him in the sweetest way. They're protective of him and I always enjoy having characters being protective of my fave :-)
As for the plot - it thickened, yay! It's still going slow but it's going somewhere at least. Also I'm wondering - what about that scene, in the pilot I think, where a reporter was talking about the case of a girl having been found wandering with no memories at all? I mean... I need to recheck that scene, make sure they weren't talking about Kyle or anything, but I think they were talking about a girl and all and, seriously, if that's the case? How come no one mentioned it? Hi! We're talking about two kids, found naked in the middle of nowhere, with apparently amnesia and no one is thinking of, maybe, linking the two stories? Dude, so lame! But whatever, I could accept a night that lasted five minutes in SPN, I can accept the amnesia about that particular tidbit of information on Kyle XY. And maybe I'm wrong anyway - I really need to check it out.
Also, a ripple effect of my getting into Kyle XY and seeing Nicholas Lea again is that it made me want to go back to some XF slash. So I cruised around Mort's site and re-read her Discounted Goods series - just love it to pieces - as well as re-read some of Noirceur's fics. Dude, dark fics rock my world. Nothing new but still very true.
But anyway, yes, still enjoying Kyle XY. More and more as time passes it seems. Scary, I know.
What is even scarier is that I still haven't watched either Psych or The 4400 omg! And today I'll add Eureka. Hmm, good thing I don't sleep at nights, right? \o/

Date: 2006-08-02 11:28 am (UTC)Hee, reading that just made me lol at work. Not cool. :p
But seriously, you don't wanna see it? Really? You do know it's got Johnny Depp, right? ;)
What is even scarier is that I still haven't watched either Psych or The 4400 omg!
You think that's bad, I still haven't even download this weeks The 4400 and Entourage. I'm downloading Nightwing and my brother is downloading some games and my shows just kinda get left behind. *is a bad fangirl*

Date: 2006-08-02 12:19 pm (UTC)Nope, really don't wanna see it; even knowing there's Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and Keira Nightley - though I always butcher her name, so, sorry again *cough*

Wow, that's even worse, yes *is impressed*

Date: 2006-08-02 04:39 pm (UTC)I haven't decided yet on Eureka. I've seen the pilot and would have watched the next ep if not for a terrible headache, but not sure I'll add it to the download schedule... (I may wait for a friend to download the episodes and burn them for me. :D) We were both expecting something more... serious.

Date: 2006-08-03 12:20 pm (UTC)Funny about Eureka because at first I thought it was another 'serious' show and somehow, that's not what I wanted. I still tried it and realised the crack it was and decided to add it to my To Download List because it's just too much fun *g*

Date: 2006-08-03 03:47 pm (UTC)I enjoyed PoTC too, but I guess it's not for everyone. Best bit when WIll got his shirt ripped off and whipped. Once a h fan always a h fan *g*
Oh, Mort! I was re reading her Voyager stuff recently. She's still the queen of darkness.

Lol I've been re-reading her Voyager stuff too last night *g* It was Mort week, I guess :-)
