Nov. 8th, 2006 11:31 amI was a bit afraid of going to work this morning due to the - umpteenth - SNCF strike but it wasn't that bad. I had to let go two trains because saying they were packed would be like saying Jim and Blair are just good friends, ie it would be a ridiculous understatement, but the third one was empty! Like, I could even find a seat! Unbelievable *blink* I'm now hoping tonight won't make up for this morning 'easy' because getting home at 10.00 pm would suck, thanks.
Still haven't watched Numb3rs but Dexter and Heroes were squeed over and, man, those two shows OWN me! ♥ ♥
Oh,Dex! I love how worried and lost you were in that episode. I was already quite happy with "Let's Give The Boy a Hand" but I think "Return to Sender" is another Favourite. So. Your relationship with ICT suddenly changed, uh? Loved that it did; loved even more than you said the word 'relationship' in relation to ICT :-)
I still can't believe what the show does to me; how it makes me root for a serial killer and instead of cheering that someone might finally see behind the mask, I was all worried for Dex. That scene on the boat, when he's throwing away all his 'toys', I was all, 'oh noes, don't do that, Dex, those are so precious to you!' But it was nothing compared to what I was feeling when he was about to throw his trophies. Hee omg not The Box! And thankfully, no, not The Box *g*
The flashback broke my little heart too - I mean, I felt bad for Deb, it was clear she just wanted to spend time with her father, wanted her him to see her and I felt sad for her but ouch, what she told Dexter was so hurtful. Of course, it's the kind of thing a teenager would say when they're hurting and wanting to get back on the one they perceive to be responsible for said hurt and she did take back her words immediately but - ouch. It was a nice touch, though - to show us that things weren't that easy between the siblings. And it was nice parallel with how odds they found themselves again this time.
Also quite liked the idea of Harry finding Dexter on a crime scene and then adopting him. I mean, that's what Deb said to Laguerta in the loo, right? That it's how Harry found him?
Deb now; I still like her very much - though now that I've 'met' book!Deb, I can say that I deeply regret they didn't keep that version of her - and I felt sorry for her because she's putting so much effort in her job and you just knew it would be for nothing and it just sucks to be her, sometimes.
A scene I adored with Deb was the one at Mother Doakes'. Man that scene was brilliant - his sisters were so cool, as well as his mother and I just loved how well the girls got on so quickly. It also pushed my Laughing!Character kink, so it was of the good. And I loved when she turned the table on Doakes with her 'I'd love some cheesake, you can stay in the car, your call' or something like that. You tell him, girl! *cheers*
Laguerta also pushed some of my buttons in all her scenes with the kid. Oh man.
As for Rita - oh, Rita, I love you SO MUCH! You're so strong even though you might still doubt it. I adore her character and think Julie Benz is doing a wonderful job with it ♥
Loved that she stood up to Future Ex - her voice was quivering but she didn't back down and, in the end, she gave a beautiful gift to her kids and that was great *cheers again* You go, Rita! You do have an odd taste in men, everything considered, but no one could blame you for falling for Dexter. Speakin of, that last scene was so sweet! When Dexter finally understands the meaning behind a birthday - or his own version, whatever - and when he grabs Cody in his arms and spins him around and just - *happy sigh*
You know, reading the novel made me fall in love with the characters all over again - and what Lindsay did with Cody's character, as well as Pastor was quite the streak of genius - and it's also a great addition to the series. It's like I'm really seeing the character, that way. More than I did with 'just' the show. Though like I said, I do really like tv!Deb but I absolutely adore novel!Deb and I really wish they'd kept her. It's just sad that they didn't deem necessary to keep the original character's grumpiness. Show!Deb is a bit too... shiny and enthusiastic, I guess. She's great - I just regret the other version, is all.
Okay anyway, onto Heroes now.
Ohh Micah has abilities too! I mean, I actually thought his genius was his own power - you know, uber!brainiac character but no, they went and gave him an 'active' power of his own and I just love when Heroes does that kind of thing.
Something I adore in that show is how everything is always connected - Simone and Peter and the painting and Las Vegas and Nathan. Hiro and Ando 'meeting' DL and Micah and so many other things. I don't think it'll ever get old.
Dude, how wonderfully dysfunctional is the Petrelli family! *loves* I thought it was all about Nathan and Peter but no! There is more! Wonderful little twisted characters. And man, Peter's dedication to Nathan is a sight to behold. Though I love how Peter blackmailed him into helping him with the painting. It's always the quiet ones, right? ;-)
Where was Isaac? Worse yet, where was Mohinder? So we did get his voice but it's not enough *pout*
So yes, still madly in love *g*
I was thinking that today was an Extreme Uber!Slow Day but I started writing that entry at 9.15 and it's now 12.15 30 so I guess we did have stuff to do :-) Off to have lunch with The Girls and The Other Boy now.

Date: 2006-11-09 08:48 am (UTC)I do find Dexter a lot creepier in the novel than in the show, though, and that's saying something. Also, he's incredibly funny and reading what is going on in his mind is a joy!

Date: 2006-11-09 10:27 am (UTC)I did get home just fine, which was a relief as the Line C is a sort of nightmare on a good day so when it's Strike Day? It gets scary. But it was okay. Thanks *g*
Hope your shoulder/neck are feeling better today, btw?
