Oh la la, Dexter!

Okay so first, my weekend. Was quite hectic and tiring - we left at 8.00 am on both days and got home at 9.30 pm. Add to that another hour to wrap everything up - but things went well. I also really enjoyed the show as it was a medieval show; with a tournament between four knights – both camps fought for Excalibur. My favourite knight was Arthur’s companion, Mélian d'Elis; he was the group’s woobie as he was always beaten up and always quite treacherously, too, as the Dark Knight and Igor, King of the Vikings – I kept calling him Sven in my head – always hit him in the back and stuff. Woobie!
Anyway, it was great. I 'saw' the show seven times – as much as you can see it while working over there – and I loved it each time. There was a little ‘incident’ though when during the falconry act, the eagle decided to take a hike and instead of going from point trainer-a to point trainer-b, it decided to pay a little visit to the audience, causing a hundred heart attacks in the process. It did it once on the first showing on sunday and twice on the second one… so Dad decided to, maybe, ask for a change during that part *cough*
As for the funny things you see when working there – there were two shows in the same area. The medieval show where my team worked and the other one where my BIL's team worked. At noon everyone ate at the same place but since the artists didn't have the time to change before the next showing they all kept their costumes, so in the same room were Mary Poppins eating next to the Dark Knight, sitting himself close to Pocahontas who was chatting up with an Elf Prince.
Dude, Big Top is always fun :-)
And second, DEXTEROMG! Or How I Watched The Season Finale and Died.
God, that episode was the most heartbreaking episode ever! Poor Ken-Rudy-Brian-Biney! Poor Dex! Poor little siblings! *sobs* Which, incidentally, yay! They really were brothers, then! No big surprise per se but I was so hoping I was right in thinking that they were that I’d have been disappointed if it had gone differently.
The scene when Dexter remembers about his brother… Rudy filling in the blanks and then both brothers having their little discussion next to Deb’s tied up body… holy shit, man, so intense and brilliant! It was also so liberating seeing them both finally without their masks – I dare say it was beautiful. To see Dexter finally see the other for who/what he was; his realising he wasn’t alone and that he had a kindred spirit… a brother that understood him completely. Dude, it was grand.
Except for the part when they can’t really understand each other because when everything has been said and done, Harry did manage to save Dexter in a way and no, he can’t kill Deb, sorry.
Know what? I was completely torn during that scene. Because, on the one hand, there was no way I wanted Dex to kill Deb – well okay so I knew she wouldn’t die, but you know what I mean – but on the other, I so wanted Dex to follow his brother – which I also knew wouldn’t happen considering I read the second novel, but whatever. I wanted them to, like, ran into the sunset or something. It couldn’t happen and I knew it couldn’t, but it didn’t stop me from hoping something different would happen. It just broke my heart knowing Brian wouldn’t get what he wanted, and that Dexter would have to kill his own brother after just remembering/finding him.
And it was heartbreaking and I cried and when Dex did kill Brian. I know it was a psychopath-serial killer, but I couldn’t help myself. The whole situation was just too sad. Actually I started crying before Dex cut his throat, the whole scene killed me dead. And then Dexter was huddled in the corner, choked up and - *sobs again*
I also loved:
1.The flashbacks. I loved how they were made. Little!Brian and little!Dex were also awfully sweet together. The kid playing little!Dex is such a cute little kid, they definitely chose well.
1b. I also loved it when we got to see the whole picture – literally, too, with Brian sitting next to Dex in the pool of blood. Twas painful to imagine he'd been here all along each time we heard little!dex crying. Now, I don't really know what to think of Harry, btw, basically leaving a kid alone to fend for himself and separating him from the only family he had left. I'm feeling sympathy for a psychopath and I know how it sounds but Brian fucking broke my heart!
1c. The brothers were quite moving together; the talk, the intensity, the touching, the nuzzling, and in the end, the forehead against forehead moment, Brian crying – God, that episode broke me!
Then we had some other stuff that rocked:
2. Doakes radar is still working fine. It's eerie how much onto Dex he is. I love each of their little confrontations.
3. Deb defending Dex. I thought she was going to tell Dex that she’d heard everything of his and Rudye’s convo and that she knew about Dexter now, but apparently it’s not happening in the show.
4. That last scene cracked me up. It was also such a contrast with the tone of the rest of the episode.
5. Loved Dex opening to Rita a little.
5b. Though I hated the Paul-Rita-Shoe thing. Wtf, man?
6. I also love the little references to the novel they make. Dearly Damaged Deb – nice touch.
And last night, I did some caps because I knew I’d want to share some Dexter goodness.

Big Brother Brian is so sweet!Dean and he would definitely understand each other.

Aww little!Dex *melts*

Do I really need to add something here?

*sigh*

The whole scene would be all kinds of sweet if they weren't, you know, discussing the murder of another human being.

Omg how will I survive without The Looks from now on? *wails*

*quivering lower lip*

*eyes tearing up*

*cries*

*sniffles* A shot of Dex-on-his-own. Just love the way he stares at Brian. I think this one comes from after Brian's outburst? Even better, then *nods*

And because I don't want to finish on a sad note, what with Dexter killing hissoul mate brother and all that, a little cap of my favourite ship.

And another.
In conclusion. Best show in the world! I don’t think I didn’t enjoy a single episode. Not even kidding. Each new ep seemed to be better than the previous one and I’m so sad to see the show go. I don’t even want to know when we’re supposed to get the second season, it’ll be too far away anyway.
Also, if Michael C. Hall doesn't win the golden globe I'm gonna cry! I wish Dexter could win every award there is on this earth. The End.

Date: 2006-12-19 12:59 pm (UTC)Every time I try to think coherently about the ep, I remember Brian calling Dex little brother and the love and the forehead-touching and the love and LITTLE BROTHER!!!!! and yeah, you can see what happens to my coherence. Fuck, I love this. So, so much. So much. ♥
There need to be awards, Mouse, lots and lots of awards. *nodnod*

Date: 2006-12-19 07:20 pm (UTC)J'aime tes caps.
