Joe's Apartment Mouse's Flat #5452: I'll finish with the peeling off wallpaper thing today and then we'll be ready to put the new ones, whee! I worked pretty well yesterday, me happy :-)

Incidentally, I'd brought Charlie with me this time - I wanted to see whether I'd be able to steal the internets from one of the Neighbour Persons. As a welcome back to the neighbourhood, see? I got four connections, one of them unprotected. Alas, it was so weak that I couldn't do anything with it. I just have one thing to say; that was so inconsiderate!

And during my break - I was at the flat from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm - I watched some House. What better way to stay motivated, eh? So that was of the good :-)

Then last night, I finally watched the Life on Mars finale and, dude, it definitely made an impact! It was so PERFECT!

So throughout the whole episode I was sorta stressed because, well, I knew it was the end and I wasn't sure I'd like the answers we'd all been looking for since the show premiere, know what I mean? Then the whole Morgan business and the whole 'undercover' thing happened and it really messed with my head - Sam wasn't the only who who was lost - and then the climax happened - or what we thought was the climax - and Sam woke up and...

And it was so depressing! Sam had finally gotten what he'd been dreaming of since the pilot and everything was so bleak. So dull. So sad. And the way he'd left Gene and the others had left a bad taste in my mouth. I kept telling myself 'if they keep it at that, I'm going to be so sad because all of this, it feels more like a punishment than a reward.' And to think of Sam leading that bleak and empty life, it made me ache for him.

But there were still some minutes left and so I knew it couldn't be the end and then LoM kinda killed me!

When Sam was on the roof, I was like, 'okay, he's going to jump.' But, I don't know, I didn't really believe he would, you know? Like, TPTB aren't going to have him actually do it. Except they did! And he did! Jumped off the roof. Willingly. He threw himself off the roof. Because he couldn't stand this life and because, contrary to the one he had in 1973, he didn't feel alive in 2006 and so he decided to go back. And he fucking threw himself off the roof, did I mention that? God.

And then he's back and you can see he made his peace with the whole thing; he decided to really become part of 1973 and everything feels lighter all of a sudden, and he looks happy, and then he can finally kiss Annie and the Guv pops up and everything is fine and dandy and we hear on the radio about how he's dying over there, and he doesn't care. I mean, he changes the radio and he just lets go, happily and - dude, that finale kind stunned me, you know? It was so fucking chilling and at the same time absolutely fantastic!

Also, what was real? Both 2006 and 1973? Only 2006? Did he really die in 2006 and is 1973 some weirdo after-life? Is his body dead but his mind back in time, back in 1973? Or was Sam just completely insane and did he only go all the way?

In any case, I don't even care somehow. Because as 'easy' as the ending might have seen to some in the sense that Sam chose to escape a life he couldn't stand to go to another one where he was - more or less - accepted and where he had friends and a purpose and incidentally a girlfriend waiting for him, I adored it because sometimes you want a happy ending. And also because that happy ending, if you consider the whole 'jumping off a roof' and the whole 'dying' thing and abandoning his family behind had a twist and wasn't so 'easy', after all.

Oh and did you see the Ten Inch Hero poster that has been circulating today? JA in eyeliner, always a lovely sight :-) I've also just seen another pic of Priestly and though I'm not a fan of facial hair - goatee or sideburns, sideburns especially - I'll forgive them because it's Jensen Ackles! On a big screen! And he'll rock, as usual *nods*

ETA: Oh God! cathybites just killed me dead with a RPS suggestion re: the film. Words like 'Clea/Jensen pegging' and 'Jared holding Jensen down while Clea fucks him' had been pronounced and now I'm dying to read that fic! And also? Dead from the visual, period.
