Writer's Resource, anyone?
May. 12th, 2004 11:41 amOh boy I'm feeling all mellow today. I don't think I'll do anything too... energetic. I just got myself invited by Sandra though, so I'll have to leave the house, but I should survive. It's not as if she lived too far away-- Oh wait, I wanted to go the mall. I want to look at the DVDs to see what I'm going to put on my bday list-- woohoo presents! *twirls*
*clears throat* Yeah, well it's not the 27th yet, so let's focus.
I went to see my grand-father's with my sister yesterday. He'd been transferred to a new hospital, and we had a weird moment when we realized we also knew that one. We became quite knowledgeable in hospitals the past few years apparently. Also, we did our grown-up persona when the doctor asked to talk with us about my grand-dad's medical history since my mom wasn't there yet. Who would have thought we knew so many big words, too? lol Anyway, pépé was feeling... fine. Just really tired, but pretty fine otherwise. Well, it can't get better now, so as long as it doesn't get worse, we're happy, you know how it is *g*
When I came home I had the surprise to find my dad already here (FYI, my dad never comes back from work before midnight-- and midnight is when he comes home early), poor guy was sick. Well, I thought he was dying or something, because for my dad to actually *skip* work, well it has to be pretty bad. To give you an idea, the last time he stayed home because he felt too lousy was when I was... nine I think. And I'm now twenty-four, so you do the math lol
On the fannish front now. I still didn't see Van Helsing. Between my schedule and Manu's, I'm starting to wonder whether we'll ever make it. I have to have faith though, of course.
Oh and since Area52 has been updated yesterday, I read two really nice fics. One of them had slash *and* kid!Danny, which was just too cute. Usually, you don't have both-- well, it's pretty self-explanatory, but in this one, kid!Danny is a clone and we already have an established J/D. It was greaaaaaaat. Angst galore. Melikey *eg*
Speaking of angst, I'm still working on my little AU TS series, and I've been trying to do some research on... well, lots of different subjects, and while I was perusing the net, I found some nice little books, the Howdunit series. The whole series is *great*. I fell in love with some of them, like A Writer's Guide to the Police and how they Work or A Writer's Guide to How Murderers, Robbers, Rapists and Other Criminals Think or this one How Crimes Are Committed and Solved . I called Brentano's, an English-American library in Paris, but they don't have any of them *pout*
Yeah, I know, I can find those stuff on-line, but you wouldn't believe how tedious it is to find the right sites *sigh* Hey btw, does anyone have a Writer Resource site bookmarked? Or do you have nice sites dealing with, I don't know, police procedure? I'm also trying to find stuff on life in the street, but somehow I think I'm being too vague when I ask about it lol
Oh I'll find something, right? *g*

Date: 2004-05-12 03:47 pm (UTC)Tell me about the research, my mind's buzzing with what I'm finding but none of it's really what I need. Why can't I be a badfic writer that doesn't care about facts...sigh.

Date: 2004-05-13 01:58 am (UTC)I really wish I could buy the books I mentioned. I mean, I'm pretty sure they would help, ya know? I really like those little booklets, and I definitely could find their equivalent in French (the Que Sais-Je series is exactly like this, but they wouldn't be of much help since I want something specifics to the US system *sigh*
I'm going to do some more research on-line, and if I don't find what I want... well know what? I'll just watch some TS episodes again and do what *they* do. Even if won't be too realistic either, it'll be realistic within the show lol It will have to do *g*
