I just received an email from [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai telling me she'd made it home safe and sound. The weekend we had was fantastic, but next time she definitely needs to stay longer!

Friday night was The Hoosiers' gig. It was great. The last time I went to a concert I must have been, oh, seventeen? So it was a looooong time ago. After the concert was done, I couldn't imagine why it'd taken me so long to do that again. I totally need to find myself more gigs to go to *nods*

The Hoosiers were fantastic - even though they arrived a bit late and Tai was ready to go and see the managers and tell them that 'hi, we could have stayed home and watched the new Supernatural instead of being at a venue waiting for a band to show up', but they arrived and they started singing and everything was forgiven ♥ ♥

Then, on Saturday, it was Camelot with [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall and [livejournal.com profile] jedicathy. We took the train in the morning and off to Pierrefonds with us.

It doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I was nice enough to bring with me and share between the four of us the last four Krispy Kreme doughnuts that were left from Tai's Boxes of Doughnut'y Awesomeness. How awesome was she, btw? When I went to pick her up at the station on Friday, she welcomed me with two boxes from Krispy Kreme! *loves*

But, anyway, back to Pierrefonds. I enjoyed our day so much! First because it was a day away from Paris and its suburb, away from the noise and pollution and second because HI! MERLIN PILGRIMAGE, dude!

Beween the four of us we took, well, I don't know how many photos we took, but let's just say a lot. What follows is a sample of them.

If you're into Merlin and click, you'll find many familiar places. If you're not but enjoy castles, you might be interested too. I know I'd have loved the Château de Pierrefonds even without the show ref. The whole Merlin thing was just an added bonus. And visiting the castle with three other fangirls was the cherry at the top :-)

Ta da! First view of the castle :-) Mucho squeeing was done, let's be honest but seriously! The castle! Just like in the show. Except for how there's no pseudo medieval village pasted on in this pic but use your imagination!

I decide to be helpful and zoom so that the buildings didn't show - too much. It's a gorgeous castle, isn't it? And it's just the beginning!

We took aforementioned castle under a gazillion different angles. This is but one of them.

The gate leading to the entrance of the castle. Incidentally, Merlin took that exact same path in the pilot of the show.

Look! The yard! With the well at the back!

And the statue! Watching Merlin after coming back from Pierrefonds was a lot of fun, believe you me. We could point at so many things we'd just seen a couple of hours before!

The chapel

Chapel's ceiling.

Just on the right of the chapel

There were some weird-ass statues in that castle, let me tell you! Not that they didn't have any significance, of course, but. Some of them just looked odd, is all *points*

I love those fireplaces of yore - they had to be huge in order to warm the immense and badly isolated rooms and they always look so impressive. The four of us could stand in that hearth and we'd still have room to, I don't know, dance or stuff. Mind you, there would be no reason for us to do that kind of thing, but I'm merely pointing at the fact that there's a lot room in there.

Basically a wardrobe

Another nice fireplace, I quite liked the hunting scene on it - which happened to be a satirical hunting scened disguised as your regular hunting scene, btw.

Used to be a concert room - the acoustic was especially good in that room for that reason

If you watched last week's episode of Merlin, this is another area that should look familiar. We took many photos in here too ;-)

And here as well! The stairs going to the castle's prison...

... and to the place where the Great Dragon is imprisoned! Lookit!

Those photos were taken before we saw saturday's episode and Tai and I squeed when we finally watched it because ha! What a nice coincidence.

And a last view of the castle from the parc.

See why I loved that day so much? :-) Cathy and Cookie had a gig that same night so we said goodbye after being back in Paris - must have been a bit short of 7.00 PM?

Once back at mine, Tai YouTube'd for a bit and we found some of the clips Cathy and Cookie had mentioned earlier that day, namely two videos of Catherine Tate's show, John's a Gay Man Now, one with none other than Colin Morgan and the other without. They were hilarious!

And! We watched both the new SPN - omg, what kind of deal did Kripke make to ensure that this season would be so fantastic! - and the new Merlin - the episode was brilliant! It feels like the episodes get better and better with every week. And after watching those two episodes all I can say is OMG IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?

Okay, I have to admit that it is wicked to recognize the scenes *g* it reminds me of the feeling I had when I first went to Shakespeare and Co. and recognized the place from Highlander lol So the crypt is an actual crypt?!

And I have to say that I am definitely warming up to this show! I agree with you about the quality of the episodes - they are getting better.

As for SPN... well, no contest there, they are getting better and better! Did I tell you how much I love the angels plot? I can't wait for next week!

C'est vraiment kiffant de les reconnaître, je t'assure :-)

The crypt is an actual crypt, yes *nods*

So happy you're totally warming up to the show; it deserves it, imho :-)

As for SPN, that season is killing me in the best way! ♥ ♥

OH! Tai and I might be going to Asylum 2009. So if everything goes according to plan, and if everyone who's supposed to attend the con do attend the con, we'll get to see Castiel! Well, Misha Collins, whatever :-)

you're going to Asylum! *squee* I'm really happy for you! Who else will be there?

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Well, that's the plan, anyway :-) Remember how well it went last year but heee ASYLUM!

Who else will be there?

Tu veux dire parmi les acteurs ? Y aura pas grand monde qui m'intéresse, en fait lol The only two I'm excited about are Misha Collins/Castiel and Charles Malik Whitfield!Henricksen. No wait, there's also Fredric Lehne!YED, who should be fun to see!

I can't say I really care about the others, namely the guy playing Andy, the one playing the trickster and the two actresses playing Mary. Not that it won't be fun but if they bail out on us, I can't say I'll be heartbroken, know what I mean?

Wow! I did not realize the castle was real. So this is really where they film Merlin? Where is it exactly? Great pics. And that youtube with colin is so funny.

It is very real, yes :-) They film Merlin both in France and in the UK. The Pierrefonds castle is in Oise, Picardie - not very far from Paris.

We took the train and a taxi to get there and overall it took us just a little more than an hour.

Those are awesome! I'm telling you, next time I come to visit? We're so going there! Thanks for sharing the pics, though, they're great and it's so much fun to recognize those places from various episodes!

It's definitely the place to go for every Merlin fans out there. Well, those who are in the vicinity, anyway!

And it's just a lot of fun to recognise all those places from the actual show *nodnod*

So cool! My friend [livejournal.com profile] lexandros who currently lives in France was going to visit Pierrefonds too, but ended up not going, and I've been curious to see pictures from there. :)

Glad I could be of service :-) And I hope your friend will manage to go. It's definitely worth it.

So you're saying that I just might want to start watching Merlin?

LOVE the photos by the way. I wish I had more time on this trip to get to the Loire Valley and check out those castles! Ah, someday...

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Why, yes, that's exactly what I'm saying :-)

If it makes you feel better, even if you'd been to the Loire Valley you'd have missed this particular castle as it's not in that area but, yes, I do hope you'll manage to see all those castles one day; they are quite the sight. As was this one *g*

The castle is gorgeous and so well preserved!

And that vid with Colin Morgan was hilarious! lol
And I must say that a longer hair cut is perfect for his ears! *g*

En fait le château a été construit sur trois périodes; il a été rénové et a même été complètement reconstruit après une destruction quasi totale. On a vu des photos, et tu croirais jamais que c'est possible un truc pareil; il ne restait que des ruines.

We watched the vid a couple of times, and cracking up every single time lol

And I must say that a longer hair cut is perfect for his ears!

You'd notice that, yes lol

OMG IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?

I have all this school stuff to get done this week and yet all I wanna do is sleep till Friday (or hell, Saturday would be even better, so I'd get new SPN and Merlin at the same time). It's very counterproductive.

Life, why must you interfere with my TV watching? *SIGH*

Also, the castle pics look great. Camelot! ♥

Sleeping till Saturday would so be the perfect solution! I'd vote for that!

It's gorgeous and hee, Camelot!

We've been to Camelot *twirls you* ^_^! It's a shame we didn't have better weather but hey, at least it didn't pour down with rain!

Oh, and I need to send you the videos I took of the Hoosiers...

We'll just have to go back in the spring or summer, then :-) Though it might be more crowded by then.

I'll be waiting, thanks :-)

Glad you guys had fun.

And is it next week yet??

'Beautiflly familiar' is a nice way of describing it :-)

It's now next week, actually, but still not the right day! Is it SATURDAY YET? Well, Sunday, really.

Also, did you get my email, btw? I sent you one to thank you for the gorgeous Merlin scans Tai gave me.
