Aug. 23rd, 2010 01:01 amI've felt under the weather today so apart from an errand I needed to run this morning (too early for my taste) I stayed home and just watched tv. Really unproductive day as far as RL is concerned but quite busy fannish-wise. I finished the first season of Community, which I absolutely loved; so brilliant and hilarious and cute, with a great ensemble (from students to teachers - omg, the teachers, they cracked me up like you wouldn't believe) and a plethora of pop cultulre references that couldn't fail to make me happy. I'm impatiently waiting for s2 now.
I also (finally) got back to FlashForward. I've been meaning to finish the season/series for ages and never got around to it, well, today was the day. Not the day I finished it but I think I'll stay home tomorrow too and do it then.
And I also watched the premiere of Rubicon. It intriged me enough that I'm downloading the second episode as I type. I also think it looks different (the way it's shot and all) from other shows; it's slow-paced (for now, I guess) with lot of silences and quiet moments, it doesn't try to be glamourous, it doesn't need to be shiny, it's not OTT, the melodrama is kept to a minimum (even though there're mention to 9/11), there're no flashy cars nor ultra-modern offices, there're no bimbos or pretty boys (though I find Will and Maggie attractive - just, not in a bimbo and pretty boy way) no sexy clothes... overall, the show looks low-key and introspective and more realistic somehow... Hmm, now that I think of it, it felt kinda European. And I guess it's just me, but there you go. Anyway, I'm intrigued, will watch the second episode and see where to go from there...

Date: 2010-08-24 06:17 pm (UTC)That's what I'm always afraid of when getting into a show like that, that the writers have no real idea of where they're going. Hopefully they're not messing with us *fingers crossed*
