Dec. 30th, 2011 10:46 pmWhenever I'm asked to rec (at least) one of my favourite films, I always say Fried Green Tomatoes because it's a gorgeous story and what I consider a truly good film. Now, though, there are other films that I absolutely adore even when they're not the most stellar. We all have those, don't we? Among which, there is You've Got Mail which is honestly a film I could watch a thousand times without ever getting tired of it. It also happens to be my comfort film, the one I turn to whenever I'm sick or feeling down (I feel like I've mentioned this a million times lol Let's say LJ is also a space where you can repeat yourselves, shall we?)
And no wonder, it has books, internet and Starbucks! It has strangers meetings on-line and then mailing each other and becoming friends. It also has cozy flats and nice afternoon teas... It was basically meant for me! And to think that when I watched the film for the first time, I only knew of Starbucks due to an XF fic where Skinner bought Mulder a Starbucks coffee-maker for Christmas. Ok, or something else, it's been a long time but it was definitely from Starbucks, I wouldn't forget a detail like that ;-)
I can hardly remember a time when we didn't have Starbucks in France... I can't imagine myself not being addicted to it either o_O
Ah, You've Got Mail, you're such a sweet RomCom ♥ Which reminds me that I've never seen the original version, I should get around to finding a copy. See how I like it.
Since we're watching cheesy RomComs of my heart tonight, I might suggest to Cookie that we follow with While You Were Sleeping. She's never seen it and it's a Christmas film and we need to take advantage of those last days of the Christmas season (which ends when I'm back at work, of course, because the world revolves around me and all that) before putting those DVDs back to their shelves till next year :-)

Date: 2011-12-30 11:18 pm (UTC)Btw, did you send me an art card with a Christmas message written in red ink on the back, and a rubber-stamped snowman in place of a signature? Since there's also no return address on the envelope, my only clue is that it's postmarked Paris, and I think you're more likely than Amandine to send me a card. I want to do my "thank you!" Christmas post this weekend, and I'd like to know who I'm thanking, lol!

Date: 2011-12-30 11:28 pm (UTC)Ok, there's just the signature that's missing, right? Because I alwas write a little message and I always sign! Well, except for this time, apparently? o_O Oops!
But, yes, that was me :-)

Date: 2012-01-03 08:19 pm (UTC)And omg Karen! We received your package yesterday. Thank you! You are so generous. Cookie and I love the scarves (even wore them today) and the little wind chime is so cute! We've already found a place for it in the flat - I know, it won't chime, but it looks very pretty where it is :-)
THANK YOU AGAIN!
