castalie: (Hannibal - smiling!Will)

There are some season finales that make a lasting impression and the Hannibal one definitely is one of them. It killed me, you guys! Till the very end, I hoped things were not as bad as they looked, till the very end! I love (and hate! But mostly love) how Bryan Fuller fooled us, how he brilliantly used the original source, down to some verbatim quotes, only to choose to veer off course and mess with our minds in the most delicious way. He did keep us on our toes. And then broke our hearts, stomped on the pieces, put them on fire... and ate them, maybe? Just, I never imagined he'd go that far, OMG WILL!

Need I say that he broke my heart? I didn't think so. Omg, I almost couldn't watch some of those scenes, I swear. He looked so alone! So lost. And yet, he did manage to see through the lies and deception. Finally, you go Will! Damn, that confrontation between him and Hannibal was intense! Mind you, the whole episode was just one big exercise in intensity. But that confrontation... and then Jack SHOT POOR WILL OMG! Cue another scene that was just fantastic, Jack and Hannibal at Will's bedside, just like Will and Hannibal stayed at Abigail's bedside back then. I truly enjoy those mirror scenes, btw - like in last week episode when Hannibal and Will ate the Chicken Soup Deluxe as a perfect mirror to the very first meal they shared in the pilot.

Though, wait, if we're talking about intense (and tense) and painful and omg so awesome scene, then we have to talk about the very last scene of the episode. That was brilliant! The way they looked at each other... damn.

Something that I find fascinating to contemplate now... are we going to meet a slightly different Will next season? Basically, we've mostly known sick! Will throughout season 1, a Will who got more and more unstable as each new episode went (though intellectually he was still as sharp, of course) but now that he's (FINALLY OMG) being treated for the illness, how will this (positively) effect Will, intellectually, emotionally? Or, maybe I'm not being fair to him and he's been so insistent on the fact that, even sick, he still knew who he was but we'll see him healthy, we'll get a Will whose personality is not clouded by his illness and I'm just curious if it'll make a difference or not.

PS: I read so much meta on Will and his glasses that when he got out of his house to face the FBI with said glasses firmly in place, my little heart immediately started breaking (twas just the beginning, mind!)

In conclusion, I cannot wait for season 2 and it's incredibly unfair to have to wait a whole year for it. Might as well be a lifetime away! Which is why I couldn't resist and had to read this article, which had some lovely tidbits about season 2. I so cannot wait, you guys. Is it "no-earlier-than-mid-season" yet? No? Damn.

Changing the subject. I've finally watched the three episodes of Graceland that were sitting on my HD and that show was another pleasant surprise; great ensemble cast, lovely character dynamics and a plot that is pretty entertaining. I'm (of course, Jeff Eastin knows how to write good bromance) into Briggs and Mike, their relationship is very interesting, but I love pretty much everyone in that show, from Tuturro (he has the cutest laugh!) to Charlie, passing by Paige and Jakes. I'll tune in every week, I think :)
