Nostalgie, quand tu nous tiens !
Feb. 27th, 2016 07:37 pmI thought I'd get online when I got back from the cinema last night (went to see Zootopia, which I enjoyed tremendously!) and failed to do so, so I'm now wishing a Happy (belated) Birthday to one of my favourite persons on LJ, namely
snailbones. Hope you had a fantastic Friday filled with olives and cabana boys and crazy sheep visiting your garden and bringing you on a new rural adventure ;)
This week, I've opened a door to the past. Sort of. I've watched some early Buffy, the first two episodes of the new X-Files season followed with a couple episodes of the very early ones (they did an XF marathon right after they showed the new eps and omg, didn't Mulder and Scully look like babies? They sure didn't look that young to me back then, ie. to my fourteen year-old eyes lol) and I've just finished watching the premiere of Fuller House. Man, it took me back!
Not really commenting on the new XF. I'll admit I was underwhelmed and even a bit disappointed by the pace and the plot. On the other hand, it's The X-Files, I'll be watching till the bitter end ;) Now, if only they could bring Quantum Leap back and do something with that ending of theirs. The QL finale is one of my biggest childhood (well, teenagehood) tv traumas, you guys. I still have nightmares about that very final scene.
Ok, stopping now, before I digress even more lol

Date: 2016-02-29 03:41 am (UTC)I made this rec way back in Jan 2009 --
For I Would See the Sun Rise Upon the Glad New Year. Quantum Leap, 7590 words. Summary: Even "never" can be undone when you have time on your side. Remember how we hated those last lines of QL? "Dr. Sam Beckett never returned home." It broke my heart into little bitty pieces, and I considered it vastly unfair. This story fixes that (after a suitable amount of angst). It'll now be my personal canon ending, much better than what TPTB gave us.
If you haven't read it before -- or if you've forgotten -- I think it will help erase that bitter memory. Makes me appreciate all over again how creative fandom is in giving us what TPTB denied.
