... should be pointed out for everyone to see :

A Canadian gay couple has been refused entry into the United States after filling out joint customs forms as a family.

Apparently, the US still have problems with the concept of respecting other nation's laws! Interesting. No comment.

Grrrr. Well there's another reason not to like the States.

I saw newly wed couples at Toronto Pride in June. Many were Americans. I kept thinking they were in for a harder time when they went home, trying to get the marriage accepted there.

This is just all kinds of wrong.

What really got to me was the assumption that the US *knew* better, you know? They don't accept --like many other countries all over the world, unfortunately-- legal same-sex marriages, fine, but they should at least *respect* other --[cough]more civilized[/cough]-- people's laws! They do not dictate what is wrong or right, they shouldn't have had the right to deny or dismiss the legitimacy of that gay couple.

I must admit that Canada seems more and more fascinating and welcoming at each passing day. I definitely think that I'll go and marry the woman of my life there! And *then*, we'll make a little trip to the US just to fill a joint customs form as a family! *eg*

"they should at least *respect* other --[cough]more civilized[/cough]-- people's laws!"

And there's the problem right there - they don't!

"They do not dictate what is wrong or right"

Yet I think they often believe they do. Like it's their duty or something, like some kind of messed up missionaries or something.

"I definitely think that I'll go and marry the woman of my life there!"

Invite me if its near where I live. I'll come and congradulate you!

Yes, I think that's one of the main things that people outside the US reproach the American, right?

Invite me if its near where I live. I'll come and congradulate you!

We have a deal lol

Man, sometimes I'm really embarrassed to be an American.

Well, from a very selfish point of view, I'm relieved it didn't happen in France.

I think the important thing is to remember that this kind of news *doesn't* mean *all* Americans think this way, because I wouldn't want to assimilate everyone in the US to this kind of shameful and homophobic --and really unrespectful to other's people laws-- reaction, know what I mean?

I know, but still... I mean, it's not like there are other countries who have members of the their senate/congress trying to pass a constitutional amendment making gay marriage illegal. Bad enough that we already have the Defense of Marriage Act.

we all know bush's policy of homosexuality, don't we? and it's not just him.

Yeah, unfortunately. I'd like the US to realize that their laws aren't THE laws, and that they do *not* know better, you know? That would be sooooo nice! Just for a sec- after all, we have to start small, right? *shakes head*

OMG! I'm so used to read about pairing fandoms that when I read Bush/Blair, I actually thought for a second about Blair Sandburg! lol Ewww you killed me!

Hmm, maybe we should create some nice manips with Bush/Blair in suggestive positions, then? Or would it be considered as a criminal and federal offense? lol

uh, yeah, I was thinking about Blair Sandburg as well - it took me about 30 seconds to find out who you were talking about lol as for the Bush/Blair manips... I would find them disgusting, thanks for the mental image, now I'm going to have nightmares because of you!

Yeah, well, sorry about that lol But it was meant to be disgusting- sometimes, we have to be cruel to make a point, forgive me?

That is disgusting! I cannot believe the homophobic narrow minded bureaucracy that still exists in this so-called 'modern' world. It makes me sick! *rages*

Of course the US has problems with other nation's laws. If they aren't what we have, then what the heck? Hey, I don't agree with 'em either.
