Jan. 8th, 2004 05:58 pmI'm back from the U *pokes at flist* Someone there? Why won't you be a good flist, and entertain me, uh?
*blink*
Oookay, I see I'll have to do it myself, then *sigh*
Wanna know what I read last night? My RoTK book! Well, okay, I didn't - I just read the Faramir scenes. Is it really bad? Or just sad? Oh I don't care. I just needed to read the words, like, immerse myself in canon!Faramir, see what I mean?
I was also bracing myself, because I've been told how 'wordy' Tolkien could be, but I was surprised to see that it wasn't so bad after all. And of course, I'm just talking about the scenes I read. I don't know about the rest, so I'll keep silent about that. But at least, I really enjoyed the Faramir scenes I read.
Of course, it made me want to watch RoTK all over again, and TTT as well. And of course, it also reminded me of the - sad, sad - fact that my DVD was not the EE *sob*
Obsessed much. Me? Why do you ask?
ETA: I just realised tonight's SG episode is "Abyss"! Whee!

Do you know, I've just realised that I haven't watched DS since I got into slash!! So, have you got any good fanfic recs *hopeful look*??

Date: 2004-01-08 11:49 am (UTC)Fics, fics, who's got the fics...Definitely head here http://www.trickster.org/speranza/stories.html to Cesperanza's page. All of them are amazing, but Beyond Embassassment is a favorite along with Ping! and Enduring Distance. They're all incredible, actually. Then go here http://www.trickster.org/res/ to Resonant's page and read Broadway Hotel. And cry and cry because it's amazing. And then read Adorned and A Modest Proposal and American Way and everything else. LOL.
The actual DS dic archive site is this http://www.squidge.org/dsa/ and there's a bunch there. Happy reading!

Date: 2004-01-08 12:07 pm (UTC)Do you think that if they'd added the Boromir/Denethor/Faramir scene in TTT when the movie was released in theater instead of just in the EE, people would have fallen for him right in TTT?
no subject
Date: 2004-01-08 03:41 pm (UTC)Oh, definitely. You see, Faramir as he was presented in the theatrical release made it seem like he'd been bastardized by Peter Jackson; he is quite different from the book, and I think a lot of people didn't appreciate it, including myself. That flashback in Gondor, and his other deleted scene, would've helped prevent that.
no subject
Date: 2004-01-08 03:57 pm (UTC)Also, you said 'his other deleted scene'- which other deleted scene? I thought the flashback was the only one? Boy do I need to get my hands on the EE. But I'm telling myself I'll get the DVD box set sometime next year, the EE one, of course, so I can't have three times the same movies, ya know? *pout*
