The O.C. starts airing on Saturday. Just saw the preview. I'm afraid it didn't impress me at all. So now? I'm wondering whether this show isn't going to be another Smallville to me, ie a show that everyone is raving about but that bores me to death. I'm curious about it though because I've heard so much about that series, maybe I'll see what others see in it? Who knows. I don't mind being surprised *g*

Speaking of which, my story arrived safely in the hotmail box - it boggles the mind, but I was glad to hear it, as you can imagine.

And something else - how come I've never heard about that site? SG RPS! It exists - it's not a figment of my imagination - someone did it. I mean... there's RPS for lots of shows and movies, but I'd always thought SG and TS wouldn't ever see the day when their actors had been slashed. So imagine my surprise when I learnt of that site *blink* This is so weird. No seriously, how come in all my years in SG I've never even heard of it? Is it like one of those family secrets, only here it would be a fandom secret?

On a side note, it's still weird to go back to the uni - tomorrow 9.00 am to be precise. Ouch, will have to remember not to surf all night tonight. Seeing I got around 9 hours of sleep this weekend, maybe it would be a good idea to actually sleep for real this time lol

What I see in The OC: Adam Brody and Peter Gallagher. Seth and Sandy Cohen. Son and Father. It's so hot and so very, very wrong.

Or Seth/Ryan, if you prefer. Seriously. All these longing looks and quiet touches in the pilot, and INSTANT BONDING. More than Clark and Lex. I'm so not even kidding.

Hot and very wrong is a nice and appealing way of describing a pairing, I like that lol

Well, I'll admit comparing anything/anyone with Clark and Lex doesn't speak to me at all, but I hear about that enough to understand how much sparkage I can expect from Seth/Ryan based on what you said here lol Thanks *g*

Gah. I read it. I'm not going there. Not touching RP slash.
It was...awkward to read. *shivers*

RPS is an acquired taste as they say, it's definitely not for everyone *nod* Still haven't time to try the fics over there but will do this afternoon. I dig LoTrips now and then --I'm a big DaveSlash fan-- so maybe it'll work here too? I'm not exactly sure and I don't know why but really, I can't know before I try because it wouldn't surprise me one bit if I did end up liking because I'm a perv like that *eg*

SG RPS! Rock on!

I don't know why the majority of the SG fandom is so skittish about RPS, it's just odd to me coming from the Angel fandom where RPS is big and then in this fandom it's still taboo. Odd :)

Each to their own and that though :)

I kept blinking at the site when I discovered it because it felt so alien to the fluffy and sorta conservative fandom that is SG. I mean, I love my fandom, you know that, but the people over there seem to walk on the fluffy side of the road, seriously. And it's not bad per se, it's just that when you don't automatically walk on that side of the road yourself, you're immediately pegged as 'twisted and ugly' - so seeing that site was actually a good surprise. People will take that comment as they wish lol

Anyway, that's a rant for another day lol

I'll go over there later *g*

Oooo, and that's a great writer, if I'm not mistaken. Well, one of them is, I don't know the other one. I love Cim, she writes beautifully. Well, obviously, I haven't yet read her SG RPS, since I'm barely getting into SG slash, at the moment, but I've read her other stuff and loved it.

As for the O.C., I admit from what I have heard, I'm thinking it's going to be another one of those boring angsty teenage shows. Which I shouldn't be saying anything bad about since I started out in fanfiction with Dawson's Creek, but...

And ha! Smallville! I was so excited when it started airing the first time, but I grew so very very bored after only a couple of weeks. It was Roswell all over again, and Lana gets on my nerves as much as Liz always did. Mph. Now, Smallville slash, on the other hand...

I'm not exactly sure it's appropriate to reply to your comment right now after reading your last post, but I'm telling myself you'll read it when you'll be ready so eventually it may not sound too bad to chose that moment to do it.

I'll see about reading those RPS later on today since I have the afternoon off and I admit that site was a nice surprise *eg*

And yeah Smallville was one hell of a disappointment. I'd heard about it for so long and in such an enthusiastic way, I was really expecting something interesting and cool... and all I got was a boring show with dull!Clark, annoying!Lana and stereopyed!Chloe... or is it the other way around? Yeah well they all bore me anyway so it's the same difference *g*

RPS?

Coincidently, I was discussing the RPS trend today with someone.

It makes me a bit nervous unless the actors themselves aren't bothered by it.

But, I was told today that Garrett Maggart(from TS, of course) finds RPS really OFFENSIVE and so I wouldn't go there on a bet. *eeep*

I'd be a little worried about getting sued if you really pissed someone off.

I read Lotrips now and then and I also dig some KoH RPS from time to time so I won't say RPS is alien to me. But it's the very first time it touches one of my two main fandoms, so I'm curious to see if I can dig it too. I'll go there later to experiment the thing *g*

I read everything, well, at least once, and I really haven't found a lot of RPS that appeals to me. Not yet anyway.

If it's slash and I know the actors aren't gay, I just find myself going, "HUH?" so those kinds of stories tend to make me laugh if anything.

I wouldn't mind reading something about two real people having a relationship that could possibly happen, but I've only encountered that in an RPS a few times.

My imagination just doesn't work that way. I figured out it's the characters I like, the actors just are there in my mind to give them voice and form.

As far as I know, there are only 13 Stargate RPS stories on the net -- 12 written by cim and Naina, and the 13th written by [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana. Catch-22 (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dirty_diana/41366.html#cutid1), Rick/Michael, PG-13. *gasp* *thud* *drool*

Well damn, that's definitely 13 more stories that I thought existed. Talk about a well preserved secret, seriously lol

And I promise I'll let you know if I find others. Know what though? I thought we'd also see some Chris/Michael because if you're looking at chemistry and sparkage, those two are like at the top of the list, but I guess people still like to channel Jack/Daniel in a way - I mean, physically.

You should check out [livejournal.com profile] dirty_diana's LJ cuz I know she writes Michael/Lexa, and I saw a Michael/Lexa/Chris story a few entries before the MS/RDA one. Heh. Not that I'm stalking her LJ or anything!

Truthfully, I should thank [livejournal.com profile] nostalgia_lj cuz she's the one who pointed out the MS/RDA fic just over the weekend :)

I went to her LJ to read the RDA/MS you rec'ced --and did comment because people need to be encouraged when they write RPS *nodnod*-- but I'll check it out again if there's a probability for more goodness evilness!

Well, I don't want to talk about it before really trying the series of course, but from what I saw? Your description definitely seems to fit the bill. Then again, I could get hooked on it, who knows? But it does feel like the Smalville Syndrome is ready to strike again, I'm just sayin' lol

Oh yes, absolutely, give it a shot. Who knows; you might even end up liking it :). I've seen about ten episodes so far and it's just not... really my thing. Bunch of rich, pretty kids and the whole "who's sleeping with whom" this week sort of thing. Big yawn. It's like Beverly Hill 90210 all over again, except that the 90210 characters were vaguely interesting and could act.

You've never heard about it because there's this vicious (haha) circle: the fandom is skittish about it, therefore news travel slow; I find out, but since the fandom is skittish, I don't post the rec; (and, well, maybe I don't know the Mouse that well and didn't know she'd want the rec :D)

Besides, I'm a bit skittish myself; the RPS fandom I'm in (swimslash!!) feeds from the public persona of the people involved and, um, interpretable PDA :D
While MS and RDA don't send any of that vibe. This doesn't mean I won't hurry off to that other link that popped up in the comments... *facepalm*

I think you summed up the situation perfectly. What is it with that fandom, anyway? Skittish and fluffy, it doesn't seem to even like the thought of people walking on the not-fluffy side of the road. Not really open-minded when I think of it. I still love my fandom, but it certainly has its flaws... and not just the wanky part even lol

Maybe I don't know the Mouse that well and didn't know she'd want the rec

Well, you're forgiven - but next time, remember that I'm never above trying to find myself a new kind of hell, all right? lol And RPS isn't exactly alien to me, if you get my drift *eg*

Though I'm not sure I'll exactly dig that particular RPS, not because I think it's wrong --which I shouldn't advertise because we're supposed to 'Say NO to RPS', I think-- but because I'm not exactly sure I could believe in RDA/MS to start with. Then again... my duty is to at least try, right? Right.

I saw that people were planning TS RPS but I don't know if it was ever written.

I suspect it's kept on the downlow because of possible negative reactions of other fans. Which would happen, there's no doubt about that.

Hope you had fun at school today, I know you're back so must have gone *g*

Yeah, SG is such a fluffy show, you wouldn't believe - it's something that would hurt so many fans' 'sensitivies' *makes face* I can already imagine the hurt and offended and rapidly offensive replies *cringe*

I did, it was cool! And I'm not just saying this because the teach mentioned us 'being lost' at one point and I immediately spaced out on, you know, Lost!
