castalieToday has been good *g* So okay I had to study a lot but that's not the point. The point is everything else I did/saw/read.

Second,maaaaa gave me a spanking! I mean, no wait! She gave me a spanking fic, ie she w.r.o.t.e me a TS spanking fic and OMFG it was scorching hot *eg* She based it on this icon *points icon* And seriously? If you dig erotic spanking, run, do no walk, to this post. It's told from Blair's POV and it's just too hot for words *g* I love it. Thankyouthankyouthankyou again, woman!
Third. So! After despairing of ever getting the damn file - it froze at 99% for ever - I finally vanquished my "Lineage" download and willed it to fucking complete with my totally inexistent sekrit super mental power last night, like huh... around 2.00 am or something. And I finally watched it instead of Point Pleasant. Will watch that one today *is determined*
Anyway - About my first thought on the episode? I'm afraid it was totally on the shallow side, but when I saw Wesley? Looking so fucking sexy and serious and self-assured, sans glasses at that, well I went GUH! Then my second thought was, well, also on the shallow side because the little scene with Fred and the gun handling... it would seem Midde Man isn't the only one who gets hot at the vision of a woman holding an enormous gun lol Fred just looked so hot in that scene. Yes, those were my first thoughts *cough*
Seconds one were a bit hectic such as :
#1 OMG they're.. working for Wolfram & Hart? OMG, they're working for Wolfram & Hart! Wow, I definitely need to see the episodes in order *blink*
#2 OMG, Wesley looks so different! And he looks so fucking sad. Damn, angsty!Wesley indeed. But... no he just looks so sad, I don't like that *sob* And he also looks very lonely... totally lost. And Angel? Is fucking mean to him *hides Wes from Angel*
#3 Who's the Blond Chick? Oh okay, who's Eve? Sounds like the Voice of Reason but is she nice or not? Spike doesn't seem to be that keen on her. Oh and please, don't tell me - I'm spoiled but at the same time, I don't wanna know more than I do now. I'll know how they all arrived where they are now in time, when I'll watch the DVDs *g*
#4 Speaking of which. OMG Spike! Which, okay, wasn't a surprise as such because I have "Damage" on CD, but at the time I only watched that episode for Andrew, so I didn't exactly pay attention to what was happening around... except of course the Spike/Andrew scenes were so awfully cute *g* Now that I think of it, I need to rewatch that episode and focus on the Angel team instead of just Andrew *nodnod*
#5 Gunn in a suit. Nice! Looks so very grown up and everything.
Now that's out of the way. How did I enjoy that episode? A L.O.T. Twas as good as I hoped it would be and the twisted girl in me was in heaven thanks to ColdBastard!Daddy. I mean, of course it was a robot but it doesn't exactly count because Wesley thought it was his real father, and therefore Wesley's reaction to him wasn't an artifice at all. So yeah, insecure!Wesley feeling small and incompetent and everything. Btw, each time fake!Daddy called Wes 'boy' in that stern voice of his? I melted in a little pile of twisted goo!
But seriously, I knew this confrontation with his father would be painful to see, but boy I didn't know how much. I mean, from what I saw, Wesley did seem so lost and sad but he also looked self-assured and confident. Well, that's how he looked at the meeting at the beginning of the episode. But as soon as his 'father' reappeared, he seemed to revert to some of his old self, I mean, the one from S1 or S2 at least - unsure of himself, unsure of his place and own worth - oh and clumsy. I mean, when he bumped into the door and stumbled on the woman? It made me cringe, but it was like a big sign telling everyone how seeing his father was affecting him. Wasn't it?
Also, each time I heard Father talked, I couldn't help thinking of the All those hours locked up under the stairs and you still weren't good enough line in "I've Got You Under My Skin". I mean... what a bastard! Definitely not the same kind of Father as he was in Beauty and the Beast, ah! Roger Wyndam-Pryce seems so cold that he could freeze everything around him. No surprise Wesley grew up into the guy we met in BtVs or in early-Angel... but it's a miracle he didn't grow up to be the same cold hearted man his father seems to be. I mean, if anyone had any hope that maybe the robot was a bit colder than the original version - though I don't see why, but hey, why not - well Wesley's call to his real father at the end of the episode crushed that hope. My poor Wesley *hugs him tight*
To make a long story short : I wanted to KICK FAKE!DADDY IN THE HEAD! But at the same time, I truly loved hating him because I don't get mean!parent in canon that often, so to have that with Wesley and his dad was grand! I think this ep has a record in painful and hurtful comments from a father to his son *wince*
Back to the end of the episode now... I wanted to sorta slap Angel with his 'You know, I killed my father too when I turned into a vampire and anyway he wasn't even your real dad' speech because as much as he was trying to comfort Wesley, I thought it was so very inadequate. I mean, please! As if Roger not being really being Roger was a valid point. Wes didn't know, so it's totally irrelevant. Like he said, he did kill his father because he thought that's who the robot was... and it sure makes all the difference. Also, he just didn't shoot him once... no, he literally emptied the barrel. I think that shocked me the most. How he shot his father so many times... that and the no hesitation thing. That was quite a scene. And when he threw up? I thought it was great because yeah, I would have been physically ill if I'd done something like that - no matter how much the man actually deserved what happened and how he should have seen it coming. But still. So at least Wes' reaction was good... it's just Angel or Spike who weren't exactly on the same page. Though they tried to comfort him at least, and sometimes it has to be enough, I guess *g*
ETA: Oh yeah, something else I forgot to mention. During Angel's dressing down at the beginning of the episode when he goes She was bleeding to death on the ground, I winced because damn, someone else had been bleeding to death on the ground one time, and that someone was right here, having those words thrown in his face - except that at the time, Wesley had been all alone. That was a painful line too.
Yeah, anyway, I really loved that episode. It might have taken forever to download, but it was so worth it *g*

Date: 2005-01-31 03:59 pm (UTC)I loved that ep. I'm a bit of a Wesley lover myself, and I hurt for that boy (pretty much full time) through that ep. I knew before I saw it that Roger was a robot, but it didn't diminish the harrowing affect of seeing Roger's treatment of Wesley and Wesley's actions.
Re Angel, I think they sacrificed Angel's sympathy and empathy for the last laugh with Spike saying the same sort of thing. Angel has a photographic memory, surely he could remember that Roger used to lock him in the cupboard and would've been a little more sympathetic? I was a little disappointed in him. I'm pretty sure I posted about it. Bastard. lol

I guess they did, yes. I guess they thought we needed some last laugh after the episode's little adventures? But yeah, considering Angel isn't supposed to forget stuff --though I didn't know he has photographic memory, wow-- it was a tad disappointing on his side.
