I cannot believe it! Tenessee Wants to Ban Gays. I'm dreaming! Well actually, no, I *can* believe it. Unfortunately, I can.

But even if intellectually, I know some people still think that way, reading something like this : 'Rhea County, about 30 miles north of Chattanooga, want the state to give it the power to arrest gays for "crimes against nature". In a unanimous vote the county commissioners passed a motion asking its state representatives to introduce legislation to allow it to lay the charges. For Commissioner J-C Fugate, the issue is simple. He wants to keep "homosexuals out of here.' still seems surreal, and so painful it almost hurts.

One could say those people are so outrageous in their way of thinking that it could be almost laughable, but oddly enough I'm not laughing. I would feel ashamed or sorry on their behalf, but damn, I'm not feeling charitable enough right now either.

I pity them though- and pity is one of the worst feelings you can have toward someone, IMO.

Yeah, you know people are *that* stupid. It's always "gays out of here" or "pas d'immigrés (gitans... Whatever) chez nous" or even "no women allowed".
Don't pity them. Make little puppets, and take your needles... Make them feel the pain. I'm sure half of them are repressed gays.

I don't think they deserve anything else but pity- they're pretty disgusting. Beside, they must feel really bad living in 2004 when it's clear they're escapee from the past, know what I mean? Damn- seeing people think that way, and even going as far as *passing* a motion like this is pretty unsettling.

Rhea County holds an annual festival commemorating the Scopes Trial. The school system teaches Creativism as a viable alternative to evolution.

Yeah. Well, this should make us feel better: those people are plain stupid blindignorants. Creativism as an alternative to evolution!!!! That's crazy.

Today's episode was great- with lots of cute moments *g*

And tell me about the spanking fic! Damn, talk about a disappointment. Although, from the summary, it could be expected *sigh* Am thinking of trying something myself *nods*

Hey, I just posted something about it!

What happened to Texas

From: [identity profile] ithiliana.livejournal.com
Well, they should have paid attention when the Supreme Court overturned Texas' sodomy law as unconstitutional (which one lawyer or politician or both down here tried to argue was not discriminatory because if a heterosexual had sex with a person of the same gender, they'd be arrested to!!!). This happened within the last year, I think.

But yeah. With you all the way.

I'm pretty sure those people were still traumatized by the Supreme Court decision. And no doubt they consider sodomy as evil, even between man and wife. Somehow, I can see people like this thinking that way *shakes head*

Considering this is the same town that held the Scopes monkey trial I'm not terribly surprised. Chalk another one up for democracy I guess.

I heard about that yeah.

The whole thing could be laughable if it wasn't so serious *shakes head* Of course they won't succeed, but just the thought they actually made the motion is pretty disgusting.

Your so right. It's the idea that such a law might be feasible, that it could possibly pass the lowest standards there are for such things, that makes the entire thing so repugnant.

*boggles* This can't be real! Please tell me these morons aren't using God to justify their asinine legislation. They're giving Christians around the world a really bad name. I can't believe these idiots are going to get away with this. What's next? Blacks aren't allowed on our buses? Women aren't allowed to vote? Chinese should be sent back overseas? What is this?

So happy I don't live in the U.S.

I never wanted to live in the US, but somehow, with everything that happened in the last year, I was never happier not to live in there, yeah.

And yeah, one could wonder who will be their next target. Dammit, I so loathe those people.

I'm stunned... truly, I don't know what to say! Well, actually I do, as it needs to be pointed out that homosexuality does occur in nature so how can it be 'against nature'???!! Okay, I feel a rant coming on so I'm gonna stop there >.<;;!

Stunned, that's how I was when I first read the shit. And exactly, how something that *does* occur in nature be *against* it. But then, that would imply those people can actually *think*, and it's obviously above them.
