Going to and coming from work is epic these days! First, there's the strike which means you'll wait for an hour to get a train in which you won't be able to get because it's already packed. Then yesterday there was a technical problem with a train stuck in a tunnel, thus preventing all other trains to reach their destination (it took me two hours and half to get home - it felt much longer) and this morning there was yet a new message (I wonder how many of them they have?) related to aforementioned strike telling us there was no trains going to and coming from Paris because of the "invasion of a signal box" (signal box? I'm not sure this is the correct translation, sorry) and there were no trains circulating until further notice. Right. So I came back and I'm working from home today. Not that you'd not know with me writing this, but I'm on my lunch break, ha!

The situation at work is also interesting since the students started doing blockades yesterday. I've been in contact with my co-workers and they're doing it again today. The staff is allowed to get in but not the students. I don't know how long it'll last. The French love blockades, there's another one going on at the moment, ie fuel blockade which is a bit of a nightmare for people with a car because some of them can't drive anymore. And it's not as if they could use public transports easily, so that's a bit of a problem.

Having said, France isn't on the verge of collapsing, no matter what some foreign media are implying. We're not about to reenact Mad Max here yet, promise :-)

Since I'm boring you all with a RL entry, I'll add some more Mouse-centric news. First, as it happens, my girlfriend and I will live together a bit sooner than we'd planned to, so in December she'll be officially moving in ♥ We've started moving some of her stuff, moving some furniture around, buying new furniture and all, and by January she'll officially be the new inhabitant of the flat. Her and her cat. That part should be interesting since I've never had a cat in my whole life - nor ever thought of having one. Omg, I'm gonna be a step-mother! So, yeah, that should be interesting lol Expect some Cat-entries on my part in the near future :-p

And not related to the move but related to, like, our life, we also booked a little weekend in London for the end of January so YAY LONDON! I've missed going there so much, I can't wait to visit the city again :-)

♥ LONDON ♥ Our first trip in the uk together *emotears* I missed London too.

"Omg, I'm gonna be a step-mother!"
He's gonna love his mummy #2 and you'll love him with [livejournal.com profile] moimoietmoi's gift, something like that : http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-2423133/stock-photo-cat-in-frog-costume.html LOOOOOOOOOOL
Btw, he's ready to move in, he always go in my suitcase when I use it...

It's gonna be fantastic! *can't wait*

Riiight. So, like, is that going to be her housewarming gift? Cause, can't we have a second guitar for Guitar Hero instead? lol Your cat is gonna hate me if he thinks I had any part in this omg! Unless... unless you try to put it on him and I come to the rescue? Hmm, could work! Or! We explain to him that the dressing up is part of the bandom culture and if MikeyWay does it to his own cat, then it should be good enough for him. Could work too!

You're right, we need a new guitar for Guitar Hero or maybe we could have both? lol
To be honest, I don't think Jack would let me put the frog costume on him...

Awww, great news, you two! (About the moving in, obvs., not about the strikes and blockades. ;) )

And you did briefly consider getting a cat, a kitten more precisely, some time ago. :D You were somewhat worried that a kitten eventually develops into a fully grown cat, which might be harder to handle, but now you're going to have help with her. :D

Thanks :-)

IIRC, it was more to help someone. And I didn't think about it too seriously - due to the kittens not staying kittens all their lives, which, yeah, was a bit of a problem. Guess Life really does have a wicked sense of humour; when She decides to take care of things her own way, you never know what she's going to hand to you. Guess in this case, she handed me a cat.

It could have been much worse, though; one of my friends had to become the step-mother of two ferrets. Which, the ferrets in itself could have been ok if not for the HUGE and UGLY and did I mention HUGE cage her boyfriend bought for them. Good thing they have a study beause man is it ugly. And huge. Their poor living room would have been all uglied up.

I'm hoping he'll get used to his new home soon. And without too much hassle? He's been known to be very adaptable so it should be all right? I don't know, we'll see anyway :-)

I've been following the updates on the strikes and just chuckle to myself, having been a witness to several months of them in 2005-6. However, this sounds much bigger and even more annoying. Keep on keeping on!

And yay for the GF moving in! How exciting! xx

It might sound bigger but it's not really. Well, no, it could be bigger if the fuel embargo doesn't get better. Around seven départements are apparently in dire need of fuel as of now.

It is so exciting omg!

Congratulations on all of it! You're going to love having a cat, I promise. :-)

Wish your London weekend was going to be earlier than January; I'm going to be in Oxford visiting my writing partner (formerly known to some in LJ-land as [livejournal.com profile] dominiquelechic) from November 13th through December 5th, and I expect there are going to be some day trips to London....

We'll see. I'm not a cat person so I'll have to adapt.

We were supposed to be in London much earlier (and, actually, right when you were going to be there!) but it was a bit too expensive for us. So we chose a later date. Too bad, it would have been so lovely meeting you!

Well, maybe meeting will still happen one day. I'd just need a nice strike-free time.... (Saw a photo in the paper of poor tourists trudging to Orly on foot, dragging their luggage behind them.)

Strikes are such a pain xD Like really!
Firstly I just feel bad in the first place having to fight my through my work place, I mean, come on who want to go to work that much? XDXDXD

Then! CONGRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATS!
I'm so happy about [livejournal.com profile] nicelyobsessed moving into your flat!
You'll have to celebrate!
(And... Fear the kitty xD)

Je sais pas pour toi mais c'est encore pire le weekend, y a un ou deux trains par heure, voire aucun train pendant une heure complète.

I mean, come on who want to go to work that much?

I know lol It's like WE WANT TO GO TO WORK OR WE'LL DIE! Then again, we kinda the money, I guess? :-p

THANK YOUUU! ;-) We will definitely celebrate. And we're planning on doing a little housewarming party once we've finished with the painting and all. But that shouldn't be before several months.

M'en parle pas -_-
Du genre... Oui on te fait chier, hein, quand tu veux aller bosser mais alors t'as rien vu! Faut même pas t'imaginer avoir l'outrecuidance de sortir le soir ou le week-end! *inserts evil laugh here*

Ouais... Si c'était pas pour les pepettes... -_-

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com

Congratulations to you both!

I didn't grew up with a cat and I didn't get one until I was in my forties, now I can't understand how I managed to live so long without one! I'm completely convinced that having a cat is absolutely essential to the mental wellbeing of the adult human ;-D
